Arizona or Las vegas

Am I the only one who keeps thinking of 'Utopia' in the middle of Utah? (or was I the only one who bothered to read the book? It was quite interesting.. Which gives me an idea....)

I don't know how to read.

Thank God for that. I can now type out "Gonch is an idiot", and he won't even know what it says.

God that Gonch is such a lame-o.

Yes, amusement parks are fun. :)

I said Lame-0, not Disk-o, Gonch.

I'm not quite old enough to have gotten into Disco.

Dancing Queen. Bla Bla Blee. Only Seventeen.

I'm not quite old enough either. Infact, I never met the 70s.

Oh, I'm good friends with most of the 70's. Just not enough to have slept with Disco.

Abba is badass!

I think the Phoenix area is a prime market for a large scale amusement park. The Gila River Indian reservation area would be a great location as it could draw both from Phoenix, Casa Grande and Tucson. That's about 6 million people.

Phoenix is not a retirement community as most people think. There are a couple areas such as Sun City but in general, there are a lot of young families. We have some of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. including Gilbert and Chandler. I believe Gilbert was number 1 in growth last year. There is a large influx from California as we have very attractive housing prices. We have a large amount of high tech industries with high paying jobs including employers such as Intel.

Any park built here would have to have misters or enclosed queues for summer operation although we normally get more tourist at other times of the year. Water consumption doesn't have to be a problem if the proper plants are used. Also, artificial turf could be used in many areas. C&C uses artificial turf.

The heat is still dry in the summer and the humidity level doesn't appear to be climbing much unless your in the middle of Phoenix. There were quite a few days last summer with 4-8 percent humidity levels! You do not sweat in this kind of heat. It is normal for higher humidity levels in the mornings.

The Phoenix area is just going to continue growing for awhile. The only thing that could slow it down is the water supply. The water supply issue doesn't just affect Arizona but California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. Arizona has been banking it's water so we are not running into the shortages that Nevada and California have been having.

Thanks for supporting the idea of Arizona having a real Theme park. I think that it is well over due. I don't think that C&C will ever move or get bigger. I don't think that the owner has any intention of putting more money into the park then he has to. Also the only way they would ever make good money, is if they did move the park to a bigger location, cause there is no room for that park to grow. Well I think that it is about time that someone builds a park here despite the hot weather. There are ways around that. But no one really answered my first question, which would be better, vegas or arizona?

I think that it goes without saying that Arizona would be the better choice. Las Vegas would have too much competition. Granted we're talking about family entertainment here...but I still think there's too much competition for that.

Thanks for your comments, does anyone else have an opinion?

I think Southern West Virginia would be a prime spot for a Paramount Park, a Six Flags,or a Busch Gardens. I mean, it isn't like over half the population is on public assistance and they're aren't any jobs in this part of the state because there is no economy. Oh, and we're locked on all sided by mountains.

Yeah, My home town is ready for a big park. Which is why I'm not an analyist, a business tycoon, or very wealthy.

The idea of PHX getting a wooden coaster is so unbeleivably idealistic it's funny. I have lived in Arizona for the last 12 years of my life, and the idea of a wooden coaster ever coming here makes me laugh and cry at the same time. First off I'd like to say (which I'll probably be stoned for) but I much prefer wooden coasters, and I'd love to see one come but it is just to consistantly hot here. This last summer we had around 5 months of 100 degrees plus (give or take some) but that type of heat would dry that wood out so fast, and then the fact that the park would be open year around with a heavy ass train rolling over it every weekend until may, then everyday after that makes me shutter at how often it would have to be retracked. It wouldn't be worth the parks investment to build a 5 million dollar wooden coaster that they would have to spend an un godly amount of money to keep the ride up. Only certain spts in Arizona would ahve the climate to support it, and those spots are like 2+ hours away any major poulated city.... I'd love to see a woodie but I've settled for wanting to see an Intamin junior mega coaster.

Hey good news, Tigger - you don't have to design your Atlantis park for Phoenix now! In 2008 you'll be getting Magic City Theme Park & Resort!
  • One super ride
  • Five roller coaster (Two Wood roller Coasters, Three Iron Coasters)
  • Three water rides
  • Four dark rides
  • Plus 34 rides and attractions
  • Only 873 days left until opening day!

Of course, no construction has been done and the company does business from a PO Box, but hey, take what you can get.

I suspect it'll open right around the time that huge indoor one does near the Pittsburgh Airport. ;)

Sounds awesome! To bad it ain't gonna happen lol.
Lord Gonchar, could you tell me please where you found this information out?
    Umm.. he provided links. :)
