Are there any Coasters you think are dangerous??

Viper at sfgadv is IMO the worst. They seriously should scrap that ride. I don't think there is any hope for it.

Holiday-Park's Superwirbel is rather unsave. The restraints occasionally open during the ride. I also find Euro-Star very.. well.. castrating! :)

The ONLY coaster I *ever* rode that I thought was potentially DANGEROUS was that little fairgroud Molina at the Kent Island VFD Fair...stuff like Psyclone is disastrously bad, but I don't think really *dangerous* per se. I wouldn't have gotten on that carnival coaster at all, but then I realized that if the "train" or "cars" (terms used VERY loosely, mind you) had actually jumped the track, I could have "abandoned ship" with probably only a few scrapes and bruises....it was only about 10-12' tall. But the potential for *something* to happen WAS quite palpable...not THAT is excitement...;)

So many people complain about Psyclone, but I've really just found that it can deliver a pretty good ride. Just don't life your hands up and keep your ribs covered. I've found it gives little shots of air here and there, but overall it's a bit slow, decent ride though.

I probably wouldn't call it unsafe, but you are definitely right - it is unpleasant and nasty.

I'll vote for the Cyclone at Williams Grove. Not only does it look unsafe, IMO it is a very unpleasant ride. It's very rough and the movement of the structure during a ride is very unnerving.

I rode Hercules in the front seat, and I was getting hit with chips of wood flying off the track!, and you can tell at the time it was happening, that it was happening for awhile becuase the front of the car was covred in what looked like saw dust, and before I rode that day, the lady before my ride, came back into the station with her whole arm messed up. I think it was becuase it was very hot that day, (in the 103 deg area, in a bad heat wave that year), and she was wearing a tang shirt, and so with the roughness of the ride,on the type of leather cushion of the side of the car , it like skinned her arm,, and it looked bad. One coaster that feels really unsafe if you ask me is the Coney Island cyclone, but I think it is becuase it is so strong, and powerfull, it just created the idea of being un-safe, but then again who knows?

Let's define "dangerous"...

If you complain about a bruise the ride was not dangerous you're just a panzy and should stick to the kiddy rides.

If you complain about a headache the ride was not dangerous you just lack any amount of constitution and should avoid the more intense coasters.

If you hurt your wrist the ride was not dangerous you simply forgot to put your hands up where they can't get hurt.

If you got whiplash the ride was not dangerous you just failed to anticipate that sharp turn consider keep your eyes open next time you ride.

If you get a broken nose by being thrust forward into the restraint the ride was not dangerous you simply don't have the muscle strength to keep yourself upright and should start a rigorous physical theropy regiment immediately.

If you get a broken nose becuase the person sitting next to you elbows you in the face the ride was not dangerous the person sitting next to you IS.

If you get a broken leg the ride was not unsafe you simply lack major bone structure and should probably avoid standing let alone riding roller coasters.

... so there you have it. If whatever you complaint please filter through this definition before considering the coaster unsafe or dangerous. Thank you. :)

Desperado's up there for me, those head choppers might take someones hands off one day, they almost did for me.

X-flight, Deja-vu, anything Vekoma seems a little dangerous to me but that might only be because I don't really trust them just yet.

Besides the danger factor, All three (Deja-vu, Desperado, and X-flight) are in my top 20 coaster list. I love them all, even though I really fear it may be the end of me each time I ride, lol.

Amen, coasingohio.
Yeah, Eurostar (the portable inverted) is definitely a security risk... about every year they had some kind of accident. Somehow the whole thing starts to look like a big bricolage lately... and it feels exactly like a car crash in some places.
(I've been in both, so I can make a comparison)

*My friend and I took a trip to Cedar Point one day. We rode Blue Streak and my friend's lap bar flew open! I'm serious, it really opened. The strange thing was it locked back into place before we returned to the station.

Are lap-bars coming up like this very common? My friends claim that every time they ride Raging Wolf Bobs at SFWoA their lapbars come unlocked. Every time? I had to tell them B.S.

It has probably roughed or jerked people a few times in its life, but I have a feeling the official woodie of CB has the same dangers as a Christina Aguilera video. ;)

Besides that, I've heard stories about a little coaster in northern Indiana that likes to miss brakes and I've not heard anything remotely positive about Gouderix at Parc Asterix, which sounds insanely painful.

I have my nominee, Orient Express at WOF. I never rode Drachenfire, but it was torn down for a reason and that was roughness and jerkiness. If DF was anything like OE is today then I understand why it was torn down. I rode OE one time last year and I came off groning and my girlfriend and 2 teenage girls in front of us came off the ride crying from ear abuse and neck pain. How long can some of these Arrow loopers stay around in this highly litigious society?

Sorry about the topic, but with Ma larkey around it has to be discussed.

I can't be bargained with, I can't be reasoned with, I don't feel pity or remorse or fear and I will not stop EVER until I have ridden them all.

OE issn't dangerous You should know the differnce between the panzy riders and the regular riders. Anyway I can ride the OE 60 times in one day and I still don't need any pain pills. Dang if you can't handle these rides you shouldn't even be going down the roads to get to WOF. I also suguest not going across the Paseo Bridge in KC (which recently closed due to a structual failure) because it is more rough than any ride at WOF.

It just my 2 cents worth. Worst topics are always flame wars.

I can't decide is it BGW or SDC/CC.

Yes, any road in Missouri is rougher than the Orient Express. ;)

On more than one occasion my seat belt has unbuckled mid-ride on Thunder Run at SFKK. It was on the last hill before the final turnaround. It snapped out to the side and hit the person riding next to me.

But then again, all coasters are unsafe and should be torn down.

Easily the scariest and most dangerous coaster I have ever ridden was the Big Dipper at Camden Park. Eeeeeeeeyikes! That thing is nothing more than a pile of wood halfway nailed together.

Screw Snapple. I'm the best stuff on earth.

What about football, baseball, soccer, hockey? Do you not get bruised, sore backs, bloody noses, broken bones? Heck, I have had a sore back from horse back riding. If you don't want to have any possable chance of getting hurt, then you should take up nitting.

Oh, sorry, you might get carpal tunnel from that.
