Are Stand Ups Dead?

Haha Cygnus12! You must not have ever ridden Acrophobia at SFOG.

Cygnus12, my crotch is telling me that you should never be a ride designer.

Wasn't Extremeroller just a converted Minetrain, though, swoosh?

No Extremeroller (EXT) was a converted Arrow Corkscrew. Railblazer at SFStL was the converted minetrain.

LOL does Acrophobia really hurt that much?! Ok nevermind that inverted/standup/floorless idea then! lol

I saw a ride once called Tango and it had seats like that. I wonder how much that hurt. http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Index/KMGTango1.jpg

Theres a pic of it. The arm turns, the 3 arm wheel turns, and the arms the seats are attached to flip mechanicly.

Acraphobia hurts your shoulders more than anywhere else. Waiting for it to load while sitting leaned against the restraint stinks.

SFOG: Land of freaky Drop rides. And , yes Acrophobia is interesting, but Freefall is Soooooo much better.

Oh yeah , and I heard that Tango is VERY Nauseating.

I don't know if Tango is or not because I havn't been on it. But I would say from the looks of it that it would be just above Space Roller (Top Buzz, Top Scan) in nausea.

X- the coaster designed to break all the rules

Yes, Standups are a thing of the past!

WHAT no coaster to be built in Ohio in 04? Why are we being punished! What next? No more Rollercoaster Tycoon expansion packs.

Funny how *everyone* seems to be in agreement that there will be no more stand-ups built....like I said, I thought so too. The Lemon Chill Guy (TM) at BGT seems to disagree, however...can't wait to find out who's right...:)

Ok, i guess I'll put my two cents in. I've liked every stand up i've ever been on, and I'd be sad to see any of them converted to sit down (especially at parks that already have a couple sit downs already). To me, the stand-up cars provide way more excitement than any floorless I've been on.

In fairness, I have always preferred intense rides, favoring high G's and airtime over loops and cool elements. Also, I think a lot of people dislike stand ups because the line is always a little slower due to people not knowing how to use the restraints. I've found though - and maybe it's because I'm tall - that once I find I "spot," I can ride over and over and not feel uncomfortable at all.

My tip for riding would be not to stand up completely straight so that your knees take all the G's, but don't bend them too much either, or your crotch will take all the G's. And don't ride Iron Wolf, period, unless you like getting your head bashed in.

S:ROS; SFNE. Ride it, and you'll understand.

I dont know, i could see SFGAdv getting a stand-up. the type of coaster that is really dead is the bobslead coaster. i do not like disaster @ cp but i did like Screamin Delta Demon @ opryland, it was my first coaster.

The Tango is not nauseating at all.

I've ridden one already this year so I'd know & if it were then Id've been blowing chunks for a good while afterwards, is Tango intense? yes...nauseating no.

I've been on the one standup coaster that exists in England........I'm still trying to find where my balls are.....
Yeah , I've always thought a heartline roll on a standup is a bad idea.
