People think that Cedar Fair collects all the money from parks and dumps it in to Cedar Point, but from what I heard Cedar Fair buys coasters and rides from whatever the park makes. So if Knott's makes enough money, they will get a new ride. Cedar Point tends to generate more money so they get new rides
For some reason, I think this will be deleted.

As I've said in several other current threads, Cedar Fair treats each park like its own business unit. To get a new ride they have to pay for a new ride. It's all about return on investment with that company.

It's a shame Six Flags doesn't operate with this mentality. THEY are the ones who play Robin Hood with the various parks. I gripe about this since my home park is one of the robbed parks (Astroworld) that pays for the upgrades in Ohio, etc.
And yeah, Cedar Point fans are spoiled. There aren't too many parks that get upgraded as regularly and as well as Cedar Point.
How many people have you heard saying "We want a new ride for this year!" at GTTP? Not many. I could probably count them on 1 hand. You rarely hear anybody complain about not having a new ride over there.
As for me, I'm not spoiled, I love every experience I have at the park--or any other park for that matter. The most I've ever gone was 3 times in one year and that was last year. So I'm not even sure if I'm considered a "junkie".
Heck Yes Cp Coaster Junkies are spoiled I Should know I'm one of them !!!!!! I was rather disappointed that there wasn't any new coasters this year...(Even some kind of portable schwartkopf ) To beat SFMM . I Know I Know they don't care about the the most coaster record but us SPOILED CP JUNKIES DO CARE ! Its a Source of pride for some of us who have no lives , That CP WAS ( I DO MEAN WAS ) the ROLLER COAST. NOW the west coast is the rollercoast. (~ SNIFF~) CP HAS GRACED US WITH MANY GREAT COASTERS ALWAYS THE BIGGEST AND LONGEST . I'm sure next year we'll see ( hopefully more than 1 coaster) a new Coaster to spoil us even more !
I believe that CP is still the Roller Coast, since SFMM TECHNICALLY isn't on the coast, but in the mountains. ;) Seriously, I just think we as enthusiasts have been spoiled by the recent coaster boom thats been happening at a lot of parks. Things are naturally going to go into a lull period, and I think we will start to see that now. 1999 and last year were some of the best years in the coaster industry imo, and we want as many new coasters as we can get. CP "junkies" are no different from the rest of us who complain about their park not getting a new coaster. Sure, a lot of parks NEED something new and don't get it, so I understand why some people would complain. But if say, SFMM or SFGAdv didn't get anything new this year, you would be listening to A LOT of complaining I'm sure. It's the same all over. I don't think CP people are any different, there's just more people vocal about CP because it's such a large part of the enthusiast world. Sorry for the book. ;) Just my two cents on the matter. Peace. :)
As a cp junke myself I think we are spoiled and proud of it but CP also wants to stay tops and therefore that helps keep us spoiled
I say enjoy it while you can, pretty soon things will go back to normal, which means a coaster every 2-4 years for everyone. That's actually what I was used to, up until 1998. Stop expecting coasters! Just appreciate them when you get them. The one thing that annoys me is people complain about not getting a new coaster, then when they do they rip it to shreads. It's not tall enough, it's not fast enough ect. As far as CP? They will always be spoiled with great rides, might as well get used to it.

Jeff Is 100% Correct..Cedar Fair Does A Great Job With It's Return Of Investment Policy, Returning Money Made Back Into Their Parks...
On A Personal Level, Yes, I Think That I Am Spoiled! I Have Been Going To CP For Over 15 Years, And I Have Come To "Expect" The Best From Cedar Point, AT LEAST Every Two Years..If That Is Fair Or Not To "Assume", I Am Not Sure...But I Think The Park/ Company Has Done A GREAT JOB Of Introducing New, Exciting, Fun, RECORD-BREAKING Rides...That Bring People BACK To The Park, While Still Working With Their Return Of Investment Policy
As For This Season, I Was Not Upset At All That No New Rides Were Introduced Because I Was NOT Expecting Anything Anyway..And Expected The Company To Continue With It's MF Promotion..

I dont see how people can get so mad at each other because one likes CP more than SFMM or the other way around. I think some people forget that parks are there to let us have fun not for a bitter rivaly. Wow I'm talking like an adult here eeep! Thank God Im only 15.
A very mature 15 I might add. People twice your age don't get it yet. This hobby is for fun, yet some people sound so miserable, constantly worried about what other parks are doing. I go to a park called Santa cruz Beach Boardwalk quite a bit. This park has 2 coasters! They also have a lovely boardwalk, beach, a wonderful out-and-back woodie and great atmosphere. I could care less whether they *ever* add another coaster, the place rocks! I enjoy it more than Cedar Point.

Yah...we are all really lucky. Back in the 70's, it was all about the heartbreak of losing classic coasters. Now there's more than you could possibly shake a stick at. And some of the best coasters ever created have been created in the last decade.
I don't know about a lull...parks still make quite a bit of dough even though the economy is going through some tough time. Our country went through a great depression and people still loved going to parks. Heck, they needed something to take their minds off of the situation. It was the car boom that changed everybody's recreation habits and thus the demise of the old parks. (everybody packed up and headed down Route 66).
But now it's hip again...and I don't see it loosing steam any time soon.
Perhaps the large vacation parks might go though some tough times because it costs boo-coo buckaroos to fly across the country to those places. But local parks will still enjoy decent profits. I think Six Flags was smart.

Decisions determine destiny; Destiny determines decisions.
I totally agree that CP junkies are spoiled but do you see me complaining? if cedar point didnt get another coaster for 2-4 years i wouldnt care they have such the great selection its worth the half hour drive for me. i dont see how you people can complain when they parks DO get a new ride you just totally rag on it....appreciate what you got right now

Who cares? If there was one coaster on earth, and it was Mean Streak, I would still be an enthusiast and I would do all I could to ride that coaster.

Robin Hood? Six flags is the opposite of robin hood: they steal from the poor and give to the rich!

Actually, Knott's makes a greater income than Cedar Point. A giant ride like Millennium Force is mostly impossible at a park like Knott's because of the very limited space and the noise and visual distractions placed on the city. And as many of you know, the city of Buena Park dislike loud noises which is probably the reason why at least 3 of the largest rides in the park have had sound modifications. But Knott's has provided with large expenditures from the cash flow it produces. Knott's Soak City U.S.A., Perilous Plunge, Radisson Resort Knott's Berry Farm, etc. all came from the $$$ Knott's raked in.
Hey, Cedar Point is awesome, and I'm sure your park is, too! We don't have to be considered spoiled merely because we live by one of the best parks in the world! I mean, sure, we've got more coasters than "you could possible shake a stick at." And sure, we're constantly getting more rides, but.. eh, I guess I basically just ruined my whole point, but screw it! I'm a spoiled coaster junkie and proud of it!!

I did it like this, I did it like that, I didn it with a wiffle ball bat.. ohhh

I doubt very much that Knott's, as a whole, has higher revenue than Cedar Point, only because CP has something like five times the number of rooms. More if you count Radisson. Attendance is neck and neck, but as for total resort complex revenue, I'm sure CP has more.
