I've taken to reading old news items when they come up in the Rollback and trying to find out what happened to stories after the news item got posted, like the Orlando Polercoaster. It's fun sometimes to give an update on these old stories, especially when plans (predictably) fall apart.
Unfortunately, given the state of the Web, news links sometimes go dead, like this news item.
So I've got a suggestion and a question.
Suggestion: Add an "archive link" for news posts, that links to a Wayback Machine version of a page
Question: Is there any way for me to add an archive link to an existing news thread that I stumble into from the Rollback without bumping it in the News forum? I don't want to bump old threads without adding something interesting to the discussion.

There's no practical way to retroactively add archive links to thousands of news items. They're all free-form text/HTML. And no, you can't really add links retroactively, as the news items are hackingly inserted into threads by replacing the first post.
