The park needs water rides. A flume would be a great addition.

Get out of my head you witch! :)

^^^Steaks in the ground?! So do I need to bring a grill to the park, or will they cook them for me?

I call Cedar Point my home park even though I live in the Chicago Suburbs.

Ready the tomatoes.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Either way. I'm sure regular steaks would be better then what their putting in

Splash Battle? Maybe?

Splash battle? Is that like what they added at Dollywood?

Yup. And Indiana Beach. And Six Flags Great America (SFGAm).

Yes, or SFGA. Might be a good fit at Freestyle, they are wildly popular, and I don't know of any similar attraction around Myrtle.

Given the summer heat and hummidity a water ride is a no-brainer. That being said as Gonch commented earlier they have bigger hurdles to conquer first.

My guess is still for a log flume or river rapids

That's a great way of putting it.

The pieces that were left out of the original plan were water and shade. The park is in Myrtle Beach, but it is right where nobody wants to be during the day: inland, in the sun, away from the beach. Water attractions, but NOT a traditional water park, would be a no-brainer. Flume ride, Shoot-The-Chute, rapids, whatever, they need it. Water features would also make sense...do they have a big zero-depth fountain, other than that weirdly-placed splash pad across from the B&M coaster? I caution, though, that zero-depth fountains are about to become dated and un-hip: Capital University is installing one in the middle of campus. :)

I remember when I visited Hard Rock, I thought that the first thing that needed to go was the parking fee, and the next thing they needed was a much faster way to process admission tickets: a very short line was still a 40-minute wait. And I am thinking about what Gonchar is saying.

I wonder if the next thing they should get rid of is the general admission? They're giving away the gate now anyway; why not eliminate the admission altogether and sell POP bands for the rides. Get the cheap acts to play the park, but don't be afraid to bring in premium entertainment as well...likewise don't be afraid to sell tickets for name acts that people are willing to pay extra to see. Make some structural changes to make the park operate more like those nightclub districts you see at Disney and Universal, only integrated with the ride park. In other words, the park is unique...so be unique, take advantage of that uniqueness, exploit it and get creative!

Very well put:) and exactly what Myrtle Beach needs

Exactly! :)

That would be a great hangout for anyone vactioning in Myrtle Beach. If that happens this place could get very popular!:)

What I'd suggest: An interactive fountain (a la IoA), a flume/S-t-C, and a re-do of the dark ride to make it either fun and/or interactive (it's currently neither). I had only seen IB's Splash Battle prior to the England trip, but what Alton has in terms of that ride is simply stunning (and WAY too high-budget for FMP at this point).

They had one, but took it out with the switch from HRP to FMP.

Sigh.

^Sonofabeach! Man, just keep rubbing sand (sea salt?) in my wounds why don'tcha? ;)

FWIW, Amanda (aka, the Beast of Blackpool) installed a BIG fountain (timed to music) at the Pleasure Beach this year, it did incredible business - should be noted it hit 80* almost every day of our trip, what the Brits called an exceptional run of summertime weather.

From my source of info at FMP, 2009 was all about getting the park re-opened and re-themed. 2010 will be about adding kid attractions. Another coaster won't be in the plans for 3-4 years.
