Anything goes forum

How about an anything goes forum? It would help clear up the other forums of all the off the wall questions.

Not going to happen. There are a thousand and one other places to conduct non-coaster conversation.

Ok, thats understandable. But then why do you allow non-coaster talk on the other boards? Just a question. Please dont take it the wrong way. It is your site and you have every right to do what you please. :)

What other boards are you talking about? This site is entirely dedicated to rollercoasters and amusement parks. The forums are broken up into 1. General coaster and park catagory, 2. Trip reports, specific to amusement park trips, and 3. Rollercoaster Tycoon. It has always been that way. Even the sister site Guide to the Point is specifically geared to discussion on Cedar Point, Millennium Force, with an employee forum.

Sometimes people post threads that are not in anyway related to the subject matter listed above. We nuke those threads, because they have no place here. Other times threads get out of control and get way off topic, or a thread is started with the intention of starting a flame war, or the topic at hand has been brought up numerous times before. We also close these threads.

Like it or not, that is how we moderate the forums. It is our way of keeping things fresh and fun!

1st off, I have no problem with the way you moderate these boards. I know they are for good reasons and such. Now about the non-coaster talk going on, I have seen some quite long threads that last for days without being touched. For example, 'Youngest Buzzer and oldest Buzzer?' got 59 replys. That is all I was talking about. I have no problem with you guys deleting them or not. Just thought I would bring that up. :)

Why not kill two birds with one stone and just use the General Forum for both? I can't see any point of opening up a whole new forum just for questions, half the topics in the General Forum have a question concerning something coaster related.

This is why its called a General Forum. Its there for discussions, questions, positive debate, etc. If you have a question about something in the amusement community by all means use the General Forum.

How about no? I think that an "Anything Goes Forum" would cheapen the site and make it harder for Jeff and the gang to moderate. Just look at Danimation do we really want another Danimation? Look if you want to talk about anything just go to a chat room or Danimation or even just get a soap-box, but don't bring anything goes to this great site.

Well, I was just trying to think of a way to get questions to the mods with out having to e-mail them everytime. I would think that the suggestion forum would be fit for this, but I am finding out that it is not. So, just trying to find a sollution. :)
