Anyone Ride Xcelerator Yet?

Well I'm going to Cal later on in July and this ride looks awesome. I was looking over on ACN and on one guy on one of the threads has 2 pages of opening day pictures. And they also have a Pov Video. Just go to:

Enjoy!!

I'm still checking my shorts. I'll get back to you on this.

Def Leppard - "X" - July 30, 2002.

Hard to decide which I think PKI should get, Intamin MegaCoaster or an Intamin air launched?

Can we change the name of Top Gun to your mom so no one wants to ride your mom?

Teenage Ninja, Xcelerator isn't pneumatic (air run), it's Hydraulic.

And I just got back from the farm (yes, lucky me :)) and I can confirm that HyperSonic XLC is inferior to to this new Intamin AG Rocket Coaster. It surpasses XLC in every way imaginable, and is probably the finest catapult coaster on this continent, following second behind the overseas Dodonpa in Japan.

Have you ridden Dodonpa??

No, I haven't. I usually don't judge upon hearing stats or by looking at pictures, but 0-107 MPH in 1.8 seconds?

That Xcels Xcelerator...

I can't even imagine how the Dodonpa catapult must be...

Xcelerator supposedly has run at 117 mph, which means it probably got to that speed in 2.0 seconds and 157 feet of track. I wonder what the next rocket coaster will be like.
this ride was AWESOME! launch is great, of course. top hat still provides a massive snap of airtime. but, i got the ride op from hell, and when i accidently pulled down on restraint, she started yellin at me. i apoligized and everything, but she wouldnt stop.

If your really evil in this life, do you come back as toilet paper????
ladies and gentlemen, due to an increase in line jumping, people caught cutting in line will no longer be ejected from the park. u will be ejected from the ride

The launch was great, top hat was incredible, then the ride is over. Overbanks don't do much for me I guess. Operations were horrible though as was the capacity today, and I don't see it getting much better with how the operations are. FYI, you may not pull your own lap restraint down. Instead, you are to buckle your seat belt (as tight as possible or they will do it for you) then wait for a ride operator to staple you. It is not the stapling I had a problem with. It was the fact that I had to move my cell phone, which was in the front of my pocket, to the SIDE of my pocket so the lapbar could be lowered that extra 1/2 inch! Add to the loading procedure that if anyone lowers their lapbar themselves, all restraints must be raised and re-stapled. We estimated 2 1/2 minutes between launches with one train, which means 480 peeps per hour. I don't see how the capacity will go up as long as they keep the current operations, even with the second train.

How many operators were checking restraints? Was there an operator named heather checking restraints. she has strawberry blond / orange hair. she is infamous for her stapaling. i heard she transfered to Perilous Plunge, but not certain. I recognized a few of the ghostrider operators on the xcelerator picture updates.

"Kool, I can't wait for our trip out there. I was sort of wondering though, For anyone who has ridden it, how does it compare with Hypersonic at Pkd?"

I would say it's a cross between Hypersonic and Millennium Force, but a bit more intense than Hypersonic's launch!
It's only about 25 seconds I think but it is definately one of my top faves now!!!!!
I am just hoping the other Cedar Fair parks (Dorney or Cedar Point) will get something simliar.
Xcelerator is OFF the charts fantastic!!! I am a huge fan of launching coasters so you can imagine how I feel about it!!!

Speedy, there were plenty of ride ops checking restraints, 3 per side of the rather short train, which makes each op responsible for only 3 or 4 riders. Heather was not responsible for the stapling, you can blame the Perilous Plunge fatality for that. All Ghostrider ops staple you now thanks to that PP accident too. Heather is a very funny and personable ride op if you get to know her.

Got to WATCH employees ride the thing for about an hour on Friday....flight back prohibited my riding.....thinking that Knott's made a really big PR blunder by having employees ride while nearly 700 ACErs who came in from 43 states could only watch!

I think a *bit* more....sensitivity may have been in order, esp. considering what they knew about X. I realize they wanted to open it to the public ASAP, but there will be a price to pay.....

37 mph more than the advertised speed? I don't think so.

I have heard three times from three different people that, when they were at CP, Millennium Force was shut down because they "couldn't get the speed below 115 mph." I can't believe people think this stuff is true!

I know they tested Xcelerator at speeds exceeding 100 MPH, but I'm not sure how fast.

Looks like an awesome ride. I hope a park around here gets one, but not AstroWorld because AW needs a ride with good throughput.

I just rode Xcelerator this past Saturday on Opening Day. This ride is unbelievable! Words cannot begin to describe it...well, maybe they can. Insane launch, awesome airtime on the top hat. Coming down from the top hat you look down at the track and see it going off to your right and creates an awesome visual illusion. It didn't open in time for CoasterCon but fortunately Knott's gave all attendees free admission on Saturday and Sunday to come back and ride Xcelerator. Amazingly we started waiting around 1 PM and there were only around 20-30 people in front of us. The line never really got outrageously long. My friends and I waited for the front seat which was a little bit longer of a wait but it would have been shorter if it wouldn't have rolled back. All in all, a great ride, can't wait to go back out to SoCal and ride it again.

Houston Thrills, how do you "know" that? Not to be a prick, but many times when people say they "know" something, it's because they overheard someone talking about it, and assumed that person knew what they were talking about.

Personally, I doubt they would "test" a ride at more than what it's supposed to handle, for fear of tearing apart the trains or track.

It was on coasterforce.com, I guess Intamin wanted to test it at over 100 MPH. They said it would never carry any passengers at this speed because of the high negative G's
Gjostrider's operators don't force the restraints down on normal people wearing normal clothes. They do in for people who do 2 click rides and are wearing MF teeshirts. And yes, soggy, Heather is nice. She let us ride again on an incredibly slow day w/ no one in the station and i've seen her call security to tell on line jumpers.

Yah one of those 30 in the very front of the line, with black monochrome Converse low-tops, black Dickies pants and jacket, with a shirt that said "You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me" shirt, was me! I waited 8 hours for it! It was really awsome, I posted before, but still I wanna go back right now, but I can't I have summer skoo :(

Just a great ride. Even tho I only got to ride it twice that day. Man can't wait to go w/ girlfriend this weekend :) whooo!
