Any Hope for SFEG?

signatures suck!
I'm not sure about Elitch, but I know that Astroworld's and Fiesta's Texas' problemsare that they're too close to Six Flags Over Texas. If SFoT is Cinderella, then these two must be the ugly stepsisters. Though I've never been to any of the parks, think about it, SFoT has The Texas Giant, Nitro, and Batman: The Ride. What does Astroworld have? A supposedly really tame Texas Cyclone and Taz's Texas Tornado. And how about Fiesta? A toned- down version of the Rattler. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that all Six Flags Parks, as well as Paramount and Cedar Fair parks, are NOT created equal!
Riverview Mike: Yes Chi is a big market, but it's also a captive market. If someone in Chi/Mil wants to go to an amusment park, they go to SFGAm...period. There really is no choice to be made. They could have sat on their buttocks the whole year and the park would still get good attendance because they have such a market base.

The anomaly part comes in because, despite having good attendence numbers without large capital expenditures, SFI dropped not one but TWO new coasters into the park. The theroum is that SFI only spends to keep up with competition and SFGAm essentially has none. So why spend all the money?

Actually, if you ask me, Paramount treats all of it's parks pretty much equally. All of the have closely the same amount of coasters. All have a nice share of thrill rides. And best of all, they all have enough fun for the entire family. Unlike CF where one park has 6 coasters and another has 14. All of these parks know what they're doing. Leave the Amusement Park business to them and go on and just have fun riding the coasters.

Here's something from one of my earlier posts about why I think SF knows what they're doing and why they sent rides to certain parks:

1)Nitro to SFGAdv-I believe this is the most visited Six Flags and obviously Nitro was needed for capacity and to hopefully overshadow all the headbangers(Viper, GASM, The Chiller) and roughriders(Rolling Thunder).

2)X, Deja Vu, Goliath Jr. to SFMM-Capacity, competing with Disney and Knott's, possibly the record, something else for the kids

3)Titan to SFOT-Anninversary, original Six Flags, they can keep business rolling and probobly can bring a lot more business from this big state

4)Deja Vu and V2 to SFGAm-Capacity seems to be the most logical, very long lines at this park from my experiences, good population center, take IN parkgoers away from IB, CP, and PKI

5)Deja Vu and Acrophobia-awhile since last big addition, possibly capacity(I've never been), competition with other parks around(Wild Adventures? PCw?), I'm not sure about this one really

6)V2 to SFMW-competition with PGA

7)X-Flight to SFWoA-they really want this park to be a big star obviously, competition all over the place from CP, KW, and PKI

8)Batwing at SFA-this is a good draw being so close to a big tourist center, competition with BGW and PKD, wants record for most clones: a flying coaster(X-Flight), an SLC, an invertigo, a mad cobra, an Intamin hyper(SROS-DL)-who knows?

I just read this crazy rumor here it goes:

SFEG is planning on getting a 300 foot tall Giga coaster. In order to fit this coaster in the park they are moving the catering grounds to behind the water park in a park that the city gave them. The coaster will be placed in the catering grounds and will extend into the parking lot. The designer is stated to possibly be B&M.

Does anyone think that there is enough room for such a coaster? I'm not asking if you think that the park will get it. I just want to know if you think that there is enough room.

Only if it is over the Platt River. ;)

Ah yes I heard about that they are starting on it as soon as the Denver Nuggets move into their new ice rink and win the World Series.

What are you talking about?? Nuggets play on a wooden floor, and if the Nuggets become champs, they win the NBA Title, not the World Series, stuipd!

I heard it on thrillride. Which may explain why that rumor was started. Because their rumors are always whack.

I saw that rumor also on thrillride.com, too. I need to go to SEFG to get my pic for my season pass. Once I do that, im going to "nose-e" around to see if there is any land clearing. If there is "land clearing" it should be easy to see from the top of the Mind Eraser.

Yeh it should be easy to spot from the Mind Eraser. I am going on the 18th and I plan to ask the Guest Services office at the front of the park if they are planning to get anything new in 2002.

If you do ask them, post the topic ASAP!!!!

I post a topic on the 20th of June so look for it. I would post it sooner but on the 19th we are driving somewhere to go rock climbing for Drivers Ed. Drivers ed is the reason I'm going to SFEG on the 18th. I'm 15 and driving in Denver traffic yikes!!!!!!!!

Sorry I was just joking lol didn't mean to be rude. I don't think there is much hope for SFEG. If there was another park around for it to compete with, then they would be forced to do something. I don't think they will just leave it though; they will probably build some type of major ride in the future. Maybe a ride similar to Acrophobia?

They would not get another drop ride because they already have Tower Of Doom and XLR8R.

If the rumor was found on Thrillride.com, then that's about as reliable as running two trains on a Vekoma Boomerang!!
