Any de-construction pics of sfaw?

Considering that six flags is in such high debt right now, it isn't so out of the question that they would only save ST. When you think about it, selling off some of the rides may be like selling off the land, to help eliminate the overall debt. To me, it's no big deal if they sell the rides, just as long as they don't get the scrap treatment and get new homes.

123 Coasters........
....and still going!

That's the first I've heard of Greezed Lightnin' already being sold. Good news if its true, but probably a premature statement.

The guys and gals taking down the place who are also responsible for the astroworldpark.com site have promised some pictures soon.

BTW, please don't go over to this site's forum and whine like a baby about your parks not getting this or that ride. The site's run by pink-slipped employees who are busy dismantling the park and it's extremely insensitive to them to have to read your babbling. Have some common sense, you can ***** about that stuff on general forums but don't rub it in the face of people losing their jobs in Houston. I really regret even mentioning the link now.

BatwingFan, I'm talking to you here buddy.

Parts for Swat and Diablo Falls are at Six Flags New England. http://sfne.com/index.php?cat=updates&id=9
Wow... Swat would be perfect for SFNE!

I hope SFFT gets somthing from SFAW... becasue we need somthing new. Swat would be good here too.. *** Edited 11/13/2005 11:24:41 PM UTC by Keith2005***

FP, Amen brother. BatwingFanSFA has a one-track mind all the time. I too am shocked (why? I don't know) that he would have post that crap over there. Has BatwingFanSFA ever been to Texas? The answer would be a strong no, but yet he thinks the parking lot situation is a conspiracy. I'VE BEEN THERE, there is very little room surrounding the park. You had to cross a bridge from the parking lot to get to the front entrance. There's this highway underneath the bridge that kind of limits your expansion possibilities. Were they supposed to buy out the car dealership next door who's probably been there for X amount of years and probably wouldn't want to move? Yeah, that'll probably get you maybe 100 or 200 spaces if he/she were to have sold.

BatwingFanSFA, I've said it before and I'll say it again. Get a car and drive somewhere else. If that's not a possibility, get a cab to take you to an airport or bus station. From there you can take a cab, bus, subway etc. to your destination. What? You say that's expensive? Welcome to the world of being a coaster enthusiast. If I limited myself to only Six Flags America, I'd go nuts too. Luckily, I do this thing called work that allows me to pay for a car and take trips elsewhere. You've got to stop this incessant whining and do something different. Had you not been whining all these years, maybe you would've made some friends who would've been willing to drive you to another park where they have what you want to ride. Things to consider.

Does anyone know what will happen to Viper? I know many people don't really care about it, but I sure do...it looks awesome...wouldn't it be awesome if it moved back to St. Louis and reopened here? (Viper was at SFSTL for several years as 'Jet Scream' before going to SFAW)

Just a thought...

i think its going to mexico but i'm not sure

R.I.P Astroworld
is Serial Thriller going to festia texas???

R.I.P Astroworld
Why would they only save Serial Thriller? I think BWFSFA is talking out of his/her nether-region yet again.

Every coaster in that park would be perfect for some other park that is in need. The only one I can see going the way of the scrap heap is Cyclone, which is a shame.

Just wait till SFA gets a new coaster from SFAW, then you'll hear BWFSFA complain about what they're getting. Maybe he/she is just hoping that Serial Thriller is all that is saved because SFA already has one, and he/she doesn't want anything sent to SFA so that they don't get a used coaster.

It's amazing how the people of Houston are losing a park outright but BWFSFA continues to gripe and moan about being looked over at SFA.

Hopefully SFA is next on the chopping block so parks like SFGAm, SFGADv, and SFMM can continue to add new rides since we don't have enough in those 3 parks already. :) I take that back, SFMM is hurting for flats so just ship all of SFA's flats over to Valencia. *** Edited 11/14/2005 5:49:03 AM UTC by Chitown***

In all fairness I think the "parking was to blame" thing was debunked a while ago. Great post otherwise!
I agree. Close SFA, and while you're at it, PKD. Send at least one of PKD's launched coasters to PCar!

Must be nice to be so close to 2 parks. I wish I didn't live hours and hours and hours (and hours) and one more hour away from the nearest coaster...

Edit: Thanks Chitown ;).

You left out "1 more hour" Tekno for the full effect. :)

Done ;).
I didn't see the parking lot issue debunked thread so I can't really on the conspiracy part........

But I am seeing were this parking issue can be pretty interesting. Here in Tulsa today it was announced that the County has made an attempt to purchase the Big Splash Waterpark "only to demolish it and make it a parking lot".

The owners of Big Splash are not sure just what they are going to do at this point, but said they would like to open next year because they are making money.

I only post this because, for some reason there are a bunch of places being bought, demolished, etc. only to be made into parking. The song "Big Yellow Taxi" is really starting to hit home.

The parking lot issue was part of the big picture scenario that led to the park's closing, but truly the major factor was the amount of $ that Six Flags thinks it can get for the land vs the amount of $ that the park adds to the chain's profitability. In the short term, Six Flags realized they could make more money selling it.

As for Viper, it was sold to a park in Mexico:

The same park where Kennywood's Anton shuttle-looper resides....along with THE Montana Rusa.

But even with the parking lot issue, they(six flags) could of looked into building a parking garage structure just like IOA.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

That would have been expensive, so they didn't do it. Six Flags wanted to sell the land. They'd been plotting it for about a year and a half apparently. All this parking snafu was just to build a case so Six Flags could sue the City of Houston and try to bilk MORE money out of the city.
I don't think the parking completely belonged to the City of Houston. Wasn't a lot of it for the Houston Texans, which would mean that they would have to sue the Texans and the NFL for the whole parking thing? I'm not clear on the details, tell me if I'm wrong. But this was inevitable. If SF was really wanting to keep SFAW, they could have worked something out. And if they couldn't, the amount of money the spent on new rides this year is massive, so if they were really concerned, they could have saved at least one of the massive projects for another year, and then maybe bought some land and build there own parking lot.
