Anton's Coasters A dying breed (DYING SOON)

the whizzer is very costly to run since most parts arent being manufactured by alot of companies these days and it isnt pulling anyone into the park sixflags doesnt mention it so i could understand why theyll move it well probably get S:UF anyone since it fits completely into whizzers plot of land

Actually, according to a buddy or mine (who occassionally posts here) a little research revealed that spare parts for the speedracer/jumbo jet coasters are actually rather affordable. That's one of the reasons the coasters have been snapped up by parks in so-called "developing nations", they are relatively cost effective to maintain.

Still, I dont know why people are so attached to Whizzer in particular and anything Anton in general. Yes, many of the rides are fun, put most are past their prime. At some point, it is time to move on.

On a personal note, regarding Whizzer, I care nothing for the ride. I havent ridden it since 1996 and have no desire to ride it (unless it was a total walk on, anything else is a waste of time for me). But I think it would be an ill-advised decision to remove it for any "Extreme Thrill" ride. Putting in a flying coaster would be very lame IMO (not a fan of the flying position). But if they were advocating a coaster like RoadRunner Express @ SFFT then I'd say GO FOR IT!

More than likely Whizzer will end up in Suerte Americana, where the safety standards are not as high as the US. That is where the 'Zinger went, and several others actually. The prob' is that the parts are hard to find and costly to make. I loved the 'Zinger but it was it's turn to go. It was getting to the point that it either needed a very costly overhaul or to be sold. Welding can only fix the stress cracks so many times--anyone who has worked with welding before can relate to that.

And can you all believe that Swoosh said that with absolutely NO regard to my post right about FIVE hours previous. At least say I'm full of schitt or something, but you posted a comment that I had already directly refuted.

I am convinced that people dont actually read these threads anymore....

Still waiting for your TR buddy...
And wait you shall continue to do. I've decided that I'm not going to past a SFGAm TR here to coasterbuzz. Though if I *do* write one, I'll email you a copy. ;)

With the demise of these coasters, I wish they would sell them to smaller parks, like say Waldameer in Erie, I was there today, and got a good view of what was to be the enterance to the new Ravine Flyer 2 (if its ever built), and me and my friend were talking about how a shuttle loop, or a speed racer could fit nicely in that area, but I would like to see a few re-furbished Swarzkopf coasters pop up in smaller parks...

Actually, three non looping speedracers are down in Central and South America, you'll see them at permanent fair grounds but mainly in large city parks(like the Columbia Speedracer). A lot of Anton's coasters have been put into fairs, festivals, and traveling circuits. Though you may not see them as a permanent addition to an American park's coaster collection, they are still many more of his legends standing than you think, especially in Japan, Mexico, and throughout South America.

Schwarzkopf also led design of many coasters for Japanese manufactures as well. Though they aren't building with him any more, Schwarzkopf did leave behind his team which building many coasters (especially large non loopers) following his techniques and even old concept that Schwarzkopf never had a chance to build(like Thundercoaster and Pegasus). If you go to Japan, which most of you probably will never go, you'll find a plethora of Schwarzkopfs creations and and coaster based on his work. I would say that Schwarzkopf coasters are increasing as long as Senyo and Okamoto are still in the makings.
