Another personal question for Jeff

Forget the Aunt Jemima and the Log Cabin guys. Anything other than GINUWINE MAPLE SYRUP is a waste of good pancake batter!
Jeff's dish cam is still up. However keep in mind that the camera is not centered on the tower of dishes, so pancake consumption may extend far beyond that during the offseason. I asked Aunt Jemima about it and she said that Jeff was constructing the world's tallest and fastest pancake. It will finally put the argument to rest, because Six Flags has already built a huge pancake, but since they used a different batter, pancake enthusiasts are still arguing over whether it's really a pancake or not.

CPlaya: what's wrong with Perkins? It's cheap, crappy cuisine at its finest. I grew up on that stuff.

And for the record, I like Log Cabin. There's something about pouring syrup out of a woman that's just unsettling.

Awwww, come on 'Playa'. Dont you see how I converted this to a southern cuisine type thingy? :)

I think I am now going to invest in a.... "Double-Wide" and enjoy a 10 stack of "dem-dere" pancakes with a side order of cheese grits on my new lawn chair furniture for a dining room table.

Bad thing about pancakes:

They fill you up too fast.

TOGO!

Only if you eat them with fried rice. *Shakes head* Amateurs... ;)

Getting a B&M will always beat out having to take a BM.

Or with a side of seven-way grits at Awful Waffle that you paid for with a pack of smokes...

Check with your parole officer. I think most of the clientele at Waffle house has one, right?

I like pancakes too. I once ate a pancake while tying my shoe. I use pancakes for everything. Did you know that pancakes make great bait while fishing for salmon? Fish love pancakes. Some do anyway. I have my above groud pool stocked with salmon. They are plump and fat because I feed them pancakes. Only thing I like better than pancakes? Salmon flavored pancakes. Yup, thats right, SALMON flavored pancakes. You simply must try these. If anyone wnat the recipe please email me privately. I big thank you to Coasterplaya for starting this thread. I finally feel like I can make a real contribution to this site.

well, kinda funny here (as if it hasn't been funny er, um strange) up 'til NOW. Wasn't born in FL, just moved here FIRST chance that came up. (That's college for those of you playing the home version of my "game"). Well, being a Jersey kid, just moving to MD was quite a learning experience in things Southern. On the plus side, there was stuff like respect for elders, politeness, and the awesome SWEET TEA. That *stuff* about adding sugar to a glass of iced tea always seemed bizarre to the chemist in me, lol.

Back to our "original" question, WHAT is a grit? Had to learn about blue crabs (yummy), scrapple and other Southern "meat products" (NOT yummy) and grits, which fall into the latter group for me. Grits, and their first cousin hominy both turn up on a lot of menus, and "I ain't eatin' nothin' less I know what it IS first...". Some folks never do grow up...;). If you smash up the inside of a mess of corn kernels (no "skins"), you get hominy. Keep smashing, you get grits. WHY you'd want to do these things to a perfectly delicious food like corn, that I can't answer.

But THAT is the kind of stuff that is just SO cool to learn as we travel around the country enjoying people and places, riding coasters and sharing a "pop"....Our diversity really IS our strength, as long as we stick TOGETHER.

bill, tearing up...:)

Thank you.

I hopped on board in this topic expecting some combination of a witty and nasty remark from Jeff, but I got so much more :)

Y'all brightened a lousy day here.

For what it's worth - I don't like pancakes. When the edges aren't perfect, it drives me nuts, so I've just stopped eating them altogether.

...okay. Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

~~~ Maddy ~~~
While I enjoy pancakes I find they make me sick after i eat them. I stuff them down, then they sponge out in my stomach making me sick. So for me, coasters and pancakes do not mix.
Just don't get me started on that 'interesting' southern delicacy, grits.... ;)
Pancakes with butter and maple syrup, grits, biscuits and gravy, sausage, fried eggs, and fried ham.....crap, now I'm hungry and have to go to IHOP.
Just come on down to 'Bama and I'll show you some good eatin'.
Yeah, well, I'm not what you call your typical acer. ;)
And IHOP was just plain awful the one time I ate there. Maybe I should try it again, since they just built one right near me.
TOGO!
For MY pancakes I have to hit a good local place, like Pamela's or DeLucca's in Pittsburgh.
Or make 'em myself, of course. If I don't feel like dragging out the waffle iron, that is. And screw that mix stuff, when I make pancakes or waffles they're from scratch.
In other words, most of the time I end up at Pamela's.
Oh, and my fridge has real maple syrup, not Log Cabin OR Aunt Jermima. As a diabetic, when I splurge for the sugar, it's the real deal, baby...
Damn, now *I'm* hungry.
MMMMMM...Pancakes.
I prefer the Denny's kind. I hate to go too off topic, but I love hash browns and sausage gravy, too.
So, Jeff...that WAS you on the 14th, right? ;-)
