Another person hit by inverter after entering restricted area

Posted | Contributed by NITROman

Alton Towers confirmed today that a boy suffered lacerations to head after entering restricted area of Alton Towers' Nemesis, being struck by the train. The ride was emergency stopped as soon as the crew became aware of his entry to the area. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

A similar incident last Sunday killed an employee entering the restricted area of Six Flags Over Georgia's Batman.

Was this a Six Flags park, too?

No this is not a Six Flags park.

The parks can hardly be expected to do anything more. The fences are there. Snipers with tranquilizer guns or guard dogs is about the only thing left.

No matter how hard you try, you just can't stop stupid people from being stupid. I think we've all tried that at some point.

What is going on ?!?!?!

2 of the same injuries with in 4 days of each other and both had to do with a B&M Inverted.

Its not about the ride but all of the injuries. so far thats 4 in 1 week that are bad enough to be hospitalized. This is a rough week for the industry. *** This post was edited by TITAN_FAN_13 on 5/30/2002. ***

Remember the year when there seemed to be accidents left and right, even Cedar Point had a minor accident with Corkscrew. This is not good, it has been happening everyday

Alton Towers is operated by the Tussaud's Group.

How stupid could you be to not understand the words... "DO NOT ENTER" ?!?!?!?!?

Remember The Future?

The Guy-this is the second time you have said everyone should go to CP because they aren't having any accidents. May I ask how in the hell is SF/Alton Towers supposed to control stupid guests/employees? You are acting like CP is safer, when really a stupid guest can show up at any park, it is just a matter of which park. None of the accidents this week have been the parks fault, so just keep that in mind next time you bag on a SF park, it wasn't their fault.

I know that was off topic but I feel it had to be said. Now as far as the topic goes, I still feel this kid should of thought once(not twice) before he went in this area. It shouldn't even take thinking once.

I feel sorry for these people who have been injured/killed, but why would you go into that area with a haning train running around at about 50 mph??? That's just stupid, and lack of common sense.

I'm stunned at the constant stupidity of some of our members.

1. This isn't bad publicity for Alton Towers. No person anywhere is going to blame the park because some stupid kid went where he didn't belong.

2. It has zero to do with ride safety. This isn't any different than some idiot who tries to cross a 10-lane freeway at rush hour.

3. Stop with the stupid Markey comments. This accident (and several other recent ones) have absolutely zero to do with his cause. If you're going to hate on the guy, do so by responding to his specific comments, not because it's fashionable. You make us all look like morons when you do that.

The problem is the GP, they hear about a accident such as this and all of a sudden the story gets told thousands of time and by the end it is turned into the "kid died from getting hit by a train that fell of the tracks when he was waiting in line". There are so many urban legends told from real, but less serious accidents.

Stupid, Stupid People..... When will we learn what "KEEP OUT" really means. I don't see this as an invatation to "GO IN".........

This is getting so crazy!!

When I worked on Face/Off at PKI we always had problems with guest running down the platform ramps after the ride stopped to get their lost item, but thankfully the train was always still in the station or employees would stop them before they ran.

Its all the guest fault for not reading the signs, and the lack of common sence!!

If you like what your riding now, just wait until its my time to design!!

lol IGGY...maybe they should install one of those net/cage type thingys that they have on some vehicles in Australia that prevent killing kangaroos or other animals that run out in the road to the front of B&M's. ;)

How stupid can you be? first, a man dies from the same thing at six flag's over gorgia. then, alton towers. Don't these people know not to go in restricted areas. It is good that they boy made it out alive. He was lucky to survive that.

PEOPLE PLEASE! DO NOT ENTER RESTRICTED ZONES. THEY ARE RESTRICTED FOR A REASON.

Okay, this has gotten out of hand. At least this kid lived, but is that really a good thing? He has to live with the knowledge that he was stupid enough to enter a highly restricted area and got to find out why this area was restricted. Oh well, as long as there is intelligent life, there will be stupidity.

Ya I remember that week it was hell....Towards the end of the week I would ask myself "what park, what ride, dead or alive" right before accessing RRC (before coasterbuzz). It was a freaky week
