My reason is that is seems Phoenix never seems to need warming up...it gives great rides at opening at at closing. I think it's the most consistent woodie out there.
Tremors, however, did need some time to warm up....but man when it did, it was STELLAR!

And you're right- Phoenix is one of those rides that never seems to need "warm up" time. Its like one of those workaholics that start work with an unnatural amount of energy at 7 in the morning.

Rob - On my 2003 ballot for Mitch's poll Timbers ranks at #32 our of 85 wooden coasters I've ridden. Sky Princess does rank higher. So does Leap The Dips.I can understand why many people love Timbers. I liked it, too and thought it was fun. But I didn't think it was the end-all be-all of wood coasterdom. And I can think of 31 wooden coasters I'd rather ride.

AMEN! It is good, but kick it off the top ten, it just isn't that good.
If I put my top 20 together in one park I'd have a hard time getting off of any of em :)
I never said ST was crap, but I can think of 31 other woodies I'd rather ride, as my ballot for Mitch's poll reflects.

In 2002 we did Timbersfest. That coaster after 8pm gets insane. Im not talking just airtime which it has more than any other coaster i've ridden including SFNE's SROS. Timbers has killer latterals in the turn around and helix. I mooshed my brother so hard off the turn around he swore he was going face first into the structure.
It drizzeled of and at timbersfest too. I don't know, My brother thought it was GOOD durrng the day, By nightfall and about 50 rides we were in nirvana.
Your milage may very. There are several coasters I consider just as good when they are running good.
See IMHO Boulder Dash isnt half the coaster it's bragged up to be and thats because we got daytime rides. IMHO it's a good coaster and I'll have to reserve judgement till I can get back and try it again.
Chuck, who would rather ride about 22 other woodies over Boulder Dash :)
Coaster PNE
Tremors
Timber Terror
Coaster Thrill Ride - Puyallap
TimberHawk
Just my two cents...

I do agree with your accessment of your NW top 5, but honestly, I'd change your 2 and 3, and my 5 wouldn't be Timberhawk (in fact, I wish there were more coasters around, so I could rank it lower), but Windstorm at the center. I think that is just a killer ride. Short....way too short, honestly, but wow! What a rush. I would have to take the Wildcat at the Puyallup over Timberhawk as well. Honestly, I'd take both mouse coasters over Timberhawk. Can you tell I really don't like that ride? I want to SO bad, but it is just so darned underwhelming, and what it could of been.... ugh. Makes me sad.
