Another day, another Magic Mountain Update

The insane, cartoonish-looking first drop for X is now finished, extending all the way to the ground.

Does anyone know why they chose to make the drop 88.5 degrees rather then 90 degrees. It is so close, why not just go all the way?

Also, wasn't it thrilling enough to have a 200+ ft drop, at an 88.5 degree angle in a train with rotating cars? Now it looks like the bottom of that hill is going to be in a trench. OH MY GOD!

Let the bears pay the Bear Tax, I pay the Homer Tax.
Woo-doggie. There are going to be clearance issues galore with this sucker. Man, I thought the brake run was awfully close to the main supports, but that trench looks worse if it is indeed a headfirst dive. I know that there'll be plenty of clearance, but, it's still food for thought.
I MUST head out to California...
That's gonna be an awesome drop!!!!
I am the ONLY one who thinks this ride is going to way too intense for people. Granted, I do not know a lot about the ride, but from what I have read/ pics I have seen, this thing is going to be very intense....

Looks like something I'd doodle during a boring meeting.

Forget about it. It can't be THAT bad!
Awesome! I agree that this probably won't be a ride for everyone.
Welcome back, Arrow!

Six Flags America? No, no! My name means "Sarcasm-For-All"
The same as Alton, their drop is 88.5 degress, Is it something to do with preventing the upstop wheels, and roll wheels knocking the car on the vertical drop, causing a bumpy ride, so at 88.5, the roll wheels have constant connection to the track........anyone any better ideas????
Well a least it steep and high and fast

and i'm heading up next week and DEja Vu better open
The trench dosent seem to be very deep or wide. I wonder if this was a last minuet correction for some poor surveying. It also appears to lack any reinforcment or irrigation, meaning if it rains the trench will flood and the surround dirt walls could begin to erode.

Colin your theory of the drop angle sounds good to me, it makes alot of sense.
*BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARF*

I'm going to be at CP July 10th & 11th. I'll be at SFWOA the 12th of July. See you there!

Uh oh, one of the RCT kids has escaped ;)

Remember, your relatives had no choice in the matter either!
I'm sure they'll have some guy with a pushbroom going through between trains to push out water from the trench. (I saw some guy do that in front of the Wildcat for like an hour. It was the only entertainment since they were fixing the wildcat.)

Or maybe they'll intentionally fill it with water and make a cool spllash down section! Maybe even put a bridge over it so people who are exiting can get splashed if they want!

Besides, when's the last time it rained in Valencia and didn't evaporate before it hit the ground?
Keep in mind that they still have a ways to go before they test X, so they don't have to dig out the trenchd right away. Also I was thinking that it would be awesome to have your head facing the ground in the trench, forcing you look at the ground! :) *** This post was edited by notyoudots on 6/27/2001. ***
OMG, this ride is going to be hot. I chose the best time to move to Cali

Déjà Vu: Thrill seekers plummet from 196-feet, fly head-over-heels at 65 mph over the outside of a vertical loop and a giant 110-foot high boomerang turn with nothing but the sky above their dangling feet. http://www.geocities.com/totallysfmm
