America... Watch Out!

CPlaya,

Cindy (my wife) is due February 14th...

She's absolutely gorgeous with that little belly!

But hey, nice try!

Rob: sleep while you can. Both before *and* after. It turns out, after Valentines Day, your schedule is never again your own.

(Speaking of which, Dad's Taxi Service has to leave now. In my not particularly environmentally-friendly Honda Odyssey. Which needs a tuneup. See y'all later.)

No way!!!

I thought I was going to be riding rolly coasters and chatting on CBuzz all day!

Oh man... what am I getting myself into?

~Rob "Who knows what he's up against, there's enough little Willi's around here that will attest to that" Willi

EDIT:

Oh Honda Oddysey? That's going to be our next truckster after the Taurus dies. I don't know how we'll be able to get it though in this awful economy. Isn't the government there to provide us this stuff? Sheesh, the nerve! *** Edited 8/30/2005 8:04:30 PM UTC by HeyIsntThatRob?***

For those who play the personal responsibility card…

I have a Civic and a Pilot (SUV). We bought the Pilot just prior to the birth of my son 17 months ago. The primary reason for this choice was the safety issue. I felt it was best that my son be in a larger vehicle with good safety features.

To this day, I use the Civic as my work car, but almost always use the Pilot when my son is with me. I’ve made the choice, as a parent, to put my son in the safest possible situation when driving on the road. This is especially important in a growing city like Vegas where accidents (fatal) are almost a daily occurrence. My responsibility starts and ends with my son’s safety!

I respect and appreciate different viewpoints, even those that I believe are a bit “kooky,” and particularly support your right to say and believe what you want. I can even appreciate and agree with some of the better-reasoned arguments as to why some of you harbor such hatred for the large vehicle. However, I would hope some of you would be tolerant and open-minded enough to see that there are good reasons for people to make different choices than you may (see Gemini’s post)! For some of you to start calling people “jackasses” or talking of “obnoxious” vehicles is downright pompous in my opinion! Your entititled to your opinions as am I!

I will not have my son killed in Yugo so as to please the intolerant and inflexible viewpoints of a rather vocal minority (see truck and SUV sales figures)! To appease such irrationality and inflexibility that many of you have spewed, would be downright irresponsible in my situation!

Heyisntthatrobb: What are you getting into?
Debt. serious debt.
My oldest just turned 21 last July. It seems like now i have an extra 200.00 a week now that she's on her own.
I wouldn't trade any of those years though.

Tauri never die. They're much too evil.

Not to mention they inspire lots of evil dancing, ridiculous face making and burn as much gas as a small SUV--at least the 24-valve models.

Brian: It's always the ones that have all the answers, isn't it? ;)

NOTE: Severe fecal impaction may render the above words highly debatable.

Heh, this is the most fun I've had reading since Harry Potter. Between Gonchar calling himself a pussy and the usual playa rantings, I think I've fulfilled my week's quota. Anyway, as far as the SUV debate, I can see both sides of the argument (no E here) It is correct that they do nothing to help the environment, but as an SUV owner, I must say that my FX gets better mileage than many of the cars built in the 70's and 80's. Remember them big ass Crown Victoria's from Hill Street Blues? The racked a whopping 12 miles per gallon...even less than the 15mpg 2006 Escalade.

Fate is the path of least resistance.

Playa, get your history right...

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy began as a BBC radio series, then became a series of books, then a record, then a TV series, then a stage play, then finally a film, and eventually a DVD.

Apart from that, I am staying out of this. Although I wonder...will we see a less-than-expected price spike in the gas because we have been paying for an expected shortage (which has not happened) for the past two years? Incidentally, I didn't see what kind of craziness it did today, but the price of crude oil actually went down yesterday...

(I still want to know why the loss of a refinery results in a spike in the price of crude oil. I would think that losing a refinery would result in a drop in demand for crude, which would force the price DOWN...)

FLYINGSCOOTER:

What am I getting myself into is a very hard question to answer right now.

I could give you my life story and background and it wouldn't matter one bit. I don't have all the answers when it comes to anything. Heck, I don't even expect my kids to pop out with a manual attached to them although I'm still crossing my fingers.

All I know is that I have one heck of a crazy road ahead of me and that everything right now as I know it will be completely different the second that baby's heart beats on its own.

As far as Playa goes, I had fun, thanks for being my entertainment for the day. Time to clock out!

Hey...you BOTH forgot the video game that debuted in 1984!!!

RideMan: D'oh! Hey, I only read the books and took Da Babies to the movie (they both loved it). As with coasters, I'm a dabbler. Not a fanatic.

Besides, which theatrical releases don't make it to DVD? Isn't that a given these days? Whether or not they should?

I haven't had a chance to read all the posts, so I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this or not... true Europe has been paying more for gas, but what about their healthcare and college education systems compared to here in America? I'd rather pay $6 a gallon for gas and have healthcare and a college education along with it at no extra cost.

Which is of COURSE very thoughtful, unreactive, calm, well-planned, fact-based commentary, right? Right?

Yes, small cars are BUILT to kill small children, right Jeffery?!?

1. Challenge people to be open-minded
2. Have an issue that causes great division between people
3. Some variation on "think of the children you're killing!"

People stop using the " no one complains about the 3.50 a gallon for milk "analogy because when was the last time anyone bought 15 or so gallons of milk at one time. Its totally irrelevant.

Certain victory.

Bob, were gonna hook them up at the local dairy for recycling purposes.

The price of milk is just too damn high.
