Amazon & AT&T ads

I am referring to the ads that say "Get a $25 Amazon gift certificate when you sign up with AT&T" and have the objects in the background you can move with your mouse.

Is there any way to get rid of them? The applet those ads use really slow down my computer when they are displayed.

True...but it would be nice if the applet didn't fire until the user clicks in the ad. There have been times when ads containing Java managed to crash my browser...! And what good does the ad do if it crashes the browser before it even appears on the screen?
