Alton Towers "is still too noisy"

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

A couple living near the Alton Towers theme park in Staffordshire have told the High Court it is still too noisy. Owner Tussauds Theme Park Ltd was ordered to cut noise levels in 2005 after complaints about noise nuisance. The crown court later raised these levels, but Stephen and Suzanne Roper have taken the park to court again, saying levels are still too high.

I wonder what kind of cheese they'd like to go with their whine.
The Ropers should never have sold their apartment building to that Mr. Furley guy. Now look what they have to put up with!
Like Intamin Fan said, Alton Towers was there before the Ropers, however it was mainly gardens. There were no massive rides like Oblivion and Nemesis. Alton is actually lucky they were granted permission to build these rides or they wouldn't be the UK's premiere amusement park. I had never experience a location like Alton's before in my life. Its literally in the middle of nowhere. You drive on these tiny winding roads through rolling green hills and forest and through a little gate and into the car park. Even inside the park you can't really see the rides. But, they ARE noisy. And, some are on the fringe of the park too - mainly Oblivion. There's literally a house 20' from Oblivion's loud as hell lift hill.

However, I think the Ropers are making a bigger deal out of this than they should be. What none of the stories ever say is Mr Roper owns a big pottery factory that makes WAY more noise and pollution than Alton Towers ever will. Its also in the countryside surrounded by little houses that people live in. So, its like the kettle calling the pot black in this instance. He should really practice what he preaches.
