"Airtime"

A thread about airtime has to have mention of Shivering Timbers. There is none better.

Without the chaindog, you'd never get up the lifthill...

You can't forget SROS at SFNE either. There's no doubt about it that your out of your seat.

Coasterman Mike - who actually did doubt a few times if he was out of his seat while riding MF

-----------------

Give me the good old Phoenix for air time. What can beat buzz bars and no seat belts in seat # 3? The Phoenix proves wood doesn't have to be 100 + feet tall to pack a punch.

I love all airtime on both steel coasters and wooden coaster. My favorite wooden airtime machine is The Villain. Best one for steel is a tough choice between Nitro and Phantom's Revenge. I choose both of them.

For a ride. u gotta ride Dudley Do right ripsaw falls at IOA. The best airtime I've had on a water ride. Talk about intense It was so fun, I had to ride it 3 times and was cold all the way back to the hotel. Is the Airtime on the ride still the same? I rode it in 2000. That's the last time I went with my family.

And my god the airtime on Pittfall at Kennywood and Superman: Ultimate Escape at SFWOA. scary and insane at the same time! Never had I heard people scream as much as they did on these rides.

Broke a tailbone, and had many riders with hurting tushes... it did get "fixed."

However don't know if it's tamer... heard it was. But 2nd and 3rd hand info usually is watered down.

yes! Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls had AMAZING airtime! The most ever on a water ride! However I do think that wooden coasters pack great airtime, especially Viper at SFGAM, there is mega airtime on that coaster! Especially on the last hill, in the last row!Other awesome wooden coasters would definantly be Gwazi, and Timberwolf at WOA. ( I havent ridden shivering timbers yet, but I hear there is great ait time on that!) For steel coasters, I would probobly have to say Mamba, the first hill gives major air while in the backrow! The second hill is even better! Other steel coasters that I find great when it comes to airtime, has gotta be Raging Bull, and Millenium Force's "floater" hill.

Best airtime of ALL is Apollo's Chariot. I've ridden Magnum and MF, but I got nothing from them, well - at least not as much as Apollo's Chariot. That first drop makes your stomach jump to the top of your throat. And the bunny-hops have the most airtime I've ever had on a coaster with bunny-hops. Gotta love that ride.

Edit: Also, don't forget your S&S drop towers. Those things are amazing. Probably better than most coasters I've ridden.

I agree with you dlillib. I think the hills on the second half of magnum or painful too. But yet I still love the airtime on S:ROS(SFDL, haven't ridden the other ones). So i guess it depends on whether the lap bar is gonna make the ejector hurt or not. As long as this IS airtime I'm happy.

Six Flags, the only chain of parks that can manage to have stacking with a one train operation.

Ya'll woosies that can't take MAggies air. Many many times I have taken over 20 rides in a row and have came away with bruises, and I love every moment of it.

Crazy ejector or flojector air is just the ticket for me.

The kind of ejector air I am talking abotu is found on Magnum and PR, flojector is found on ST and Phoenix and Cornball. BTW I still have to go back to the double up of Phoenix to retreive my balls.

Beyond those two I also love lateral air, when you fly out of your seat only to be smashed into the side of the car sometimes painfully I mea I roke a rib on Twister at Knoebel's and loved it LOL, the Legend is another great example of lateral air.

Reardless what you have here is basically my number one coasters. I am aan airtime whore to the fullest extent but that doesn't mean thast what I am only about. The beast is one of my favorites as well.

But when i see a coaster that has so much potential for air IE Steel Force, yet does not deleiver I am extremely dissapointed.

Coming in 2003-The Spawn Of Magnum!
Yes Virginia, I am Santa Claus!
I AM WITTY!

Amen MagnumForce! The Phoenix is the only ride I've come off of holding my groin. Well, because of airtime. Theres always Scooby's Ghoster Coaster at PKI...

-----------------
Jingle Bells. Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way! Oh what fun it'll be to ride Hulk at IOA!

lol...I know what you mean MarimbaGuy.

I remember going on Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls (can we abbreviate it DRS?) and recalling if it had some sort of restraint. I remember holding on for dear life in the tunnel, where it is *completely* unexpected.

ANd, we can't forget about Timbers. If that was compared in RCT2, it would probably get an airtime rating of 50.00 or something. A ride on Timbers is worth the trip up to Michigan alone.

LeWiS

My second favorite woodie, the Hurler... I mean it has abundant airtime and a great turn after the first drop. And on top of that, it's a walk-on ;)

-----------------
Best inverts:

1. Talon
2. Volcano - The Blast Coaster
3. Raptor

My vote for airtime machines is sorta divided. Overall, I love Pheonix at Knoebel's (totally insane). For steel though, Im divided between the PR and S:RoS at SFNE. I love airtime, but for me it isn't the most important factor. Interesting how all three of those coasters are in my top ten list though....

Give me negative G/ejector air.

S&S Double Shot
SFWoA Big Dipper in a bad mood
Cornball Express with lateral punches as well
Magnum's Rabbit Punches
CI Cyclone in the back car.
Phantom's Revenge
Etc.

You mean like Coaster at PNE? :) Oh, those of you who have little experience in riding a true ejector god. Carl Phare liked his rides evil....;)

Maggie and S:ROS have the same type of air that comes out of my ass after a Taco Bell dinner, painful and unpleasant.

-----------------
It's Giant, it's Inverted, it's a Boomerang, Beeyatch!

I prefer big "I'm gonna throw you clean out of the park" airtime. Not the quick jabs or the floater. The kind of air where the coaster says it's in control and you are just along for the ride if you can hang on. Good examples of this are the SROS's, Phoenix, and Shivering Timbers. I love the sign at ST that says anyone returning to the station with their seat belt unfastened will be ejected from the park. I always wonder if the pun was intended. (Kara?)

My airtime favs................Maggie, Phantom's Revenge, Screechin Eagle, and of course, Timbers!!!!

Good Times!! Good Times!!

Are Shivering Timbers seatbelts still adjustable like in the opening year or do they now retract on on the Morgan coasters such as Mamba & Wild Thing. As far as that sign is concerned if there is no changes to the seat belt just loosen it up a little. You don't need to remove (unfasten) your seatbelt to get ST air! Also I rode Dudley Do Right Falls in late December 1999 or early January 2000 and don't remembe the airtime being all that extreme BUT I think there was more air on it than any flume I have ridden! Is the speed bump still there! Easily my #1 flume ride including the nearby Spash Mountain. So what has been "fixed" on that ride?
