Acrophobia strands riders for over an hour

Yes I was at work yesterday on SUF and seeing those people up there was breathtaking. But after it was all over, all the people received free season passes, free six flags tickets, and free food in the restaurant across from Acrophobia.

DAMN! (sorry about the language) But I wish I was on that!! I remember one time I was stuck on Drop Zone at Carowinds for about an hour, and recieved squat.

I'm impressed. That was fantastic of SF to do that for those people, especially for the ones who don't mind being stranded that high.

If something goes wrong at SF's and it involves you they would not leave you empty handed. Like at Sfgadv's they gave this man who couldn't fit a fast lane for another ride.

During Drop Zone's opening season, an incident with the brakes caused the ride to be e-stopped at the top, and riders were brought down around midnight via bungee chords and the fire department. They all received lifetime season passes to the park.

That is correct about Drop Zone at Carowinds during its opening season but wasn't it stuck up there for about 4 hours?
I know that when we were filming for Extreme Rides 2002 for Acrophobia, we had to sit there for about 10 minutes in the seats, and it got very uncomfortable, not just the privates, but it hurts your legs too... I sure wouldn't want to be in those seats for that long of time! (but it would be worth it to get a free season pass...lol)
Next time I ride something like that I'll try to get stopped for a few hours, j/k, but it'd be worth it. LIFETIME season passes? Can I buy one of those? Does it work at the other Paramount parks? It'd be worth it just to be able to come down with the bungee chords.

What?!!! How generous and compassionate, all Paramount gave me was a free Drop Zone t-shirt and tickets to the park the next day(what if they weren't coming back tomorrow?) I was up there for 7 hours and get cucko and they get the royal treatment for 60 minutes while stuck at only 180 feet up?

Yeah, one time at SFKK the Vampire roller coaster (a Vekoma boomerang) got stuck in the actual boomerang element of the ride (or cobra roll whatever you wish to call it) and after using a cherry picker to evacuate the riders, SF graciously gave those riders stranded, a free bottle of water and a stuffed animal of their choice from the park.

I don't know what SFMW did for the people stuck on Boomerang, I know they got water... Between numerous Boomerangs, and the Deja Vu family one must wonder if these rides are even able to be called reliable anymore. Why don't the Invertigos ever get stuck in the Boomerang element? What did they do right there that the others don't have done to them?

Aughhh look out there are Mice all around

Boomerang doesn't stall very often. The brakes went on when it was in the loop. There is a difference between stall and malfunction.

~I rode my first coaster June 2001 and since then I have ridden 43 different coasters!

Ok post this to news all, ya want, I posted it yesterday (Tuesday to be exact)when it happened, and it still ain't up yet.

Acrophobia is very comfortable, but still 90 minues in a biycycle seat 160 feet up, that has got to suck. The ride is ni fact 200 feet from sea level from where it drops you, not the top of the tower, top of the tower is about 230 above sea level.

Also the rest of the park was shut down too. Anyone on any coaster was stuck at their respctive breaking station for 90 minutes too, just they were not 160 feet in the air, with their seats pointing at the ground, unless they were on De JaVu' (which had already been shut down for the day, which at SFoGA they shut it down after about 1 hour a day anyway).

At SFNE these people would at least receive one exit pass for another ride.... they might even receive a couple or something more.
The SFMW Boomerang incident happned when the cable lift that pulls the train up in reverse snapped, it's just sad that a power outage happens and people get passes and when a ride malfunctions and the riders get stuck in a partial loop in 100 degree weather for hours they get nothing
I remember a special on one of the channels, Discovery if I believe right, they had a thing on saftey on roller coasters, and they showed two coasters that had vallied, one was Vampire, and the girl they interviewed was holding this HUGE stuffed animal, now i know why, and the other coaster was actually not vallied, but something broke on the lift of Hangman @ Wild Adventures, and the train was stranded on the lift, but that really didn't seem that bad

-----------------

People were stranded on the lift of Roar for at least 30 minutes yesterday (SFMW) and no one from the park ever went up there to talk to them from what I saw. It was right at the top, boy I wish I was on that train!

Not to mention the sunburn that many of the people got while on Boomerang at SFMW. I heard some horror stories of the burns people got while stranded. I couldnt imagine an hour stranded up anywhere on a coaster. I have seen Drop Zone at PGA stuck at the top of the tower many times, and they dont lower you down they drop you when they figure out what is wrong. The anticipation must be horrible!
