Acrophobia strands riders for over an hour

Today a power outage at SFOG caused riders at SFOG's Acrophobia to be stuck, feet dangling, at 200 ft. for 80 minutes.

Oh boy. Hopefully the weather stayed nice for the stuck riders. A nice pleasant sunny day with an occassional breeze - might not have been too bad, in a sick way.

The last thing you need when this happens is a lightning storm! (well, the Atlanta heat can be just as bad, but it wasn't too bad today)

I've ridden this many times, and it is extremely comfortable and not painful at all.

I wonder if any one had to go to the bathroom?

Was it after they had reclined. Because that would really suck!! Or was it just rotating up the lift. The article didn't really clear that up.

Top 5:
5) S:ros Sfdl 4) Raptor 3) Apollos Chariot 2) Magnum 1) Millennium Force

I was at SFOG today when this happened. The power went out when the ride was at the very top of the tower. It was actually more like 90 minutes they were up there before the park operators managed to manually lower them to the ground.

I just saw this on the news. I have yet to ride this, and that wouldn't be my ideal! Ugh:( Still, they got their money's worth! LOL!

Ugh! I knew I forgot to review a ride on my TR! I was at SFoG today as well, but we left around 4 or so. The tilt is the real scare-you-out-of-your-mind gimmick over Drop Zone at PKI, so if they were stuck here, I'll have to say a prayer that they get over the scare factor that doing that would force upon you. Those people might need several sessions of therapy! Anyways, I hope all is well now and no one was hurt on anything else. I'm glad we got out and on the road before this occured, but I still would have liked to see what the park would do when this happens. SFoG was a wonderful park, so I think all went well.
I would hate to think of being up there for 5 or 10 minutes.

Those rides scare me to death anyway. I close my eyes so I can't see how high up I really am. If I'd been stuck up there for even 30 minutes, I would have had a heart attack.

Drop Zone at PGA has gotten stuck for 7 hours, call me when we get something notable to Great America's endless list of major breakdowns ;)

If I were stuck up there I'd be enjoying the great view with my girl, and taking some pictures.

I was at the top of Drop Zone once for a very long time (atleast an hour and a half) and thats 270 feet in the air let me tell ya it was not very fun

Acrophobia is one of my favorite rides. It is very comfortable, and for the males, there is no discomfort on the genitals if you "arrange" them properly before riding (i.e. not sit on them).

stuck, feet dangling, at 200 ft. for 80 minutes.

There is a big difference between 200 feet and 160 feet myfriend. If it was at the top, that is about 160 feet.

i beleive that the tower is 200 feet tall, but the full drop is only 160.

Yeah, because it only takes you to the 165 foot mark. So you would not be stranded 200 feet in the air uless you climbed to the top of the tower.
