"I have a question for anyone... So I messed up with my naming.. I was under the impression that they were all great americas.. but they were called 6 flags over so and so Like the one in Illinois isnt it six flags great america over illinois? I was just wondering... Everyone is so dern critical... I appologise is there anything else I messed up on? Why does everyone have to be sooo cruel!"
Ok, everyone is not cruel, just some people here are limited on patience (I won't name names, except one. Me. I can have very little patience.)
And to get the names straight. Most (not all) Six Flags parks have the name Six Flags as the first two words. They have other properties, too, without that, but most do have Six Flags in the name. Some of them are Six Flags Over *state* (I think Over Georgia and Texas are the only ones.)
A couple have names for where they are: Six Flags New England, Six Flags Mexico, Six Flags Belgium.
The remainder have unique names: Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Magic Moutain, SF Worlds of Adventure, etc...
There is one that can be confusing: Six Flags Great America. AKA Marriot's Great America. Is why you may have thought they were all Great America is this: There were two Great America's built (by Marriot.) One in Gurnee, IL, on in Santa Carla (I think), CA. One was sold in the 80s to Six Flags (Gurnee's), the other sold to Santa Carla (I think) and the city gave Paramount the job of managing and maintaining it, or else it was just sold to Paramount.
My theory is, because two Great America's exist, and one is Six Flags, you got confused and thought all Six Flags had Great America in the name.
Now, wasn't that a nice long pointless post to help someone clear something up?
