ACE Coaster Classics: Do they compare today?

R-gator: totally agree, not every park will be a Holiday World, Knoebels, or Silverwood. But I think that's a good thing...its one of the many things that makes those parks special.

"Criterium"? Is that sarcasm, or did I miss a joke earlier on in the thread?

At the risk of looking like an idiot, I'll hold out my English degree and state that the singular of "criteria" is "criterion." :)

Den, sorry for any confusion, I'm sure your English degree is still valid in all 50 states...

now that you mention it, pretty sure that would be Greek origin and so would NOT follow Latin "architecture". How the heck would I know, my degree is from an SEC school other than Vandy...(and it's in economics - Jill's the English major). Note to kids heading to college....Economics is best studied on the Master's or Doctoral level!

...still thinking that ACE coaster classic status is a marketable feature on the order of a paint job....unappreciated outside the confines of our own little group of "enthusiasts"....

I really have no complaint for nor against buzzbars anymore (I hated them as a little guy (too much space) and for that reason only rode steel loopers). The head rests are another "ehh". I dont really care to look ahead on the rides (hence my 'cat-to-water'-like aversion to the front seat). I actually *prefer* not to know where I'm going.

But the thing that I *do* like is the seat divider. I really like to be separated from my riding partner. I just dont like being "cheek-to-cheek" the whole ride.

Oh and Chuck, I've gotten to the point with you that I feel all your comments are jokes with no malice attached, so for future reference, you need never apologized for any ambiguity to me. *IF* something ever comes up like that (which I highly doubt considering your good nature) you wont have to guess if I'm offended. I'll tell ya flat out ;)

important to note that with the 2K posts, I've always enjoyed jeremy's frankness (much moreso than frank's jeremyness...remember for the folks at home playing our little game, it's quality not quantity. (and a job in tech will allow you a lot more time to "chat" about coasters than it does to go ride them)...but state tech jobs are the best of all, except for the "USERS"...arghhhh!

Matthew,

I have to say I fully agree with you. I myself have never had an issue with any lap bar restraint or seat divider. Yes, I did have an issue with a OTSR, and by the looks of things, I wasn't the only one because it was modified (and I am not talking about Flight of Fear).

When Holiday World announced Raven was going to individual lap bars, I know of quite a few people that started to complain instantly as if they had already taken a ride with the modification. I actually think more airtime is to be found with the new lap bars on Raven then with the old one. However, like yourself, if I was stapled, I am pretty certain that I would still enjoy the ride as much as I could.

Well when you sit in front of a computer for 9-10 hours a day, 4-5 days a week, you often find that you mind wants to read something besides work.

And being an opinionated bastard doesnt hurt ;)

Sean - isn't it amazing how much more enjoying this hobby can be when you stop over-analyzing everything and just enjoy each coaster and appreciate the fact that we're actually able to ride them?

Bravo! However, it think it's more important to be an opinionated "B" that isn't afraid to speak up.

Later,
