Absolutely Insane to VertiGo ?

This is odd. Just a few hours after the press release for Knott's to-be-new S&S Sling-shot ride annnounced it as Absolutely Insane, it all of a sudden has been renamed to VertiGo, a name that had been recently branded on Cedar Point's very own model. Weird.

Absolutely Insane is the "code" word S&S used to promote the ride to Cedar Fair.

No, the press release stated that the attraction's actual name would be Absolutely Insane. Jim Disney (webmaster of westcoaster.net) who got in that incredible interview with Jack Falfas and the one who posted the press release stated that the park revised the press release with the name change at the last minute. Bizarre among bizzare, but stuff happens...

Knotts is getting a sling shot? I was under the impression that SFMM was getting one so that means KBF could not because of the "competition clause". That is why CP is getting it instead. Am I mis-informed?

That's what I'm saying. The "Insane" name IS the original name used to sell the ride. The park released the wrong name by mistake. It was never intended to be the name.

Where are you guys getting this "Absolutely Insane" name?? This is the only place I found it in the interview...

Well… we have an absolutely insane ride for the old shack area. It’s a slingshot type ride.

The word "absolutely" is describing how "insane" the "ride" is. It's not naming the ride, it's describing it. I.e. Jack Falfas thinks the Vertigo attraction will be absolutely insane.

The S&S ride is being built. S&S hasn't signed into any competition clause as the makers of Skycoasters had.

DWeaver is right. Absolutely Insane was just a pitch name. Marketing at CP came up with the VertiGo moniker.

Just to clear things up, the product's original name was "Total Insanity." However, the original press release for the ride at Knotts called it "Absolutely Insane." This can be viewed at WestCoaster.net. Suddenly, it has been changed to "Vertigo." So yes, "Absolutely Insane" was more than just a pitch name.

(Also, let me just say Ed is one smart guy.) :-)
