A user search?

I've mentioned this before, but I'll ask again. How 'bout in the next version, you put a feature to search for users. Like by name, or S/N, or whatever. That would be pretty damn cool, because it sucks to have to find a post a user has made to find out their email or something. Some people really don't post all that often, so it can be hard to find them. Anyways, just thought I would throw that out there again, as I don't remember getting a response the first time I posted about it. Or, maybe that feature is already there, and I just don't know about it?

A one that is not cold, is hardly a one at all.

I've often thought the same thing. That would be great. I would love to be able to look up a S/N anytime I needed to find someone. Hope I see one soon.

Holiday World, it's impossible not to have a good time

Just type in the person's screen name in the search field and all threads they've posted in will show up and you can easily get to the info from there.

Syntax Error

I was just thinking about this as well. Only have the directory by state. Like how they parks are listed. What would be cool would be to click on a park and find out who lives near by.

A Cyber-Stalkers dream!

With some of the issues we have seen around here, I am definately not in support of this idea. No offense, but I already have had many 'interesting' people IM me from here. Most are decent, but some...

Anyway, I vision that a feature such as this would only lead to abuse. Most of all, for our female members.

The only way I could see an improvement on this idea is to have an option where one could choose to be in the list, and not be included automatically.

James, the info is already there. So how does this change anything? It only makes it easier, although for someone who is intent, not having it, does not stop them.

True eric.

I just realized that I misread your original post. For some reason I thought one of the items you were suggesting was that a person could look at every entry a member posts by the use of a directory.

This not being the case, I think a directory could be feasible. However, I would still opt out if the there was a possibility of opting out.

I am not one for directories of this type. Why? I am not sure. Just a gut feeling about a lack of privacy.

I believe you are asking for something that already exists.

Used my S/N as a search string. The results provided each thread that I have started or replied.

Give it a try.

Okay, I guess I post too often to be a lurker now.

It doesn't work with me... I just entered Search: CoasterDad64, Forum: General Buzz. Not one of the results were topics started by CD64. Can anyone explain? Thanks,

Daniel

Well, that could be included easily enough in the account page....of course, if I were a female poster, I would automatically opt-out...;)

edit: how'd you get on Jr. Gemini?....argh!

Rollergator,

I actually just rode Jr. Gemini for the first and last time yesterday, October 12. It was my reward for spending most of the day watching two children, ages 5 and 4, while thier parents rode on coasters.

I have to agree.. I have tried to look up a few people using a general search and... no beans. I would think that a user lookup function would be a must... it could be as simple as an added field on the drop down list for the regular search function... ie... articles, sites, users.. etc.
