500' Skycoaster?

However, I think the price goes down the more people who ride right?

When I went with my then girlfriend to SFMM to ride theirs, the price was almost too low at ~$20 a person. When we got to the ride itself at about noon, two hours after opening, they were booked for the entire day. Obviously, demand is far outstripping supply, they probably could have charged $30+ for the ride and still have gotten just as many riders out of it.

It was my impression that the 500 footer would have a mechanism for multiple seating at the bottom of it. I think it would be a saucer of some type that could hold many people. Thus, they could lower the price per rider to make it more affordable.
I had the opportunity to ride that sky coaster in Orlando, the one that is 300 feet. It was very awesome and quite the rush! However, it would seem that the lift time on a 500 foot one would be very long, as it takes quite a while to get up the 300 foot one, and it's almost half the size. Still, if I had the opportunity to ride the 500 foot one, I probably would! ;)

After one of my ride on the 300-footer a few years ago, I ended up talking with one of the operators. Yes, we all know how some ride operators can "stretch the truth" a bit when it comes to rumors but for some reason, I semi-believe what the operator told me.

He claimed that while there was plans for a 500-footer to be built, the company scrapped the plans because they didn't see the 500-footer making any more money than the 300-footer. It does make sense if you think about it. However, that was then, this is now.

With the possible addition of a multi-passenger "vehicle" attached to the cables, I could easily see a market for a larger version, with greater capacity.

These people are very smart, very inventive and very realistic. I think a 500' skycoaster with a mult-passenger vehicle would start to press the safety barrier. The speed and weight alone, add in wind gusts and such, not saying it wouldnt be safe or could be safe, I'm just saying I think it would start to cross the line.
I know for a fact that this ride won't be built at all or for a long time they aren't even close to being done with drawing out the plans and aren't sure if they can pull this off.
I live down here and haven't seen anything about it. I did it once, great drop, but then the rest of the swinging just feels like a waste of your money. for 37 dollars go to skyventure on I drive right by wet and wild (multi-colored tower) and do the simulated sky dive--much more fun.

HARD ROCK LIFEGUARD

last year you could get on SFWOA's $6!

Some of the other ones are way overpriced, i'd rather drive the go karts a few times than do that, or better yet go on a coaster

I don't think weight would be that much of a factor as Bill Kitchen (ex-president of the Skycoaster company) told a few of us that each steel cable riders are attached to can hold up to 9,000 pounds each.

If a vehicle were to be disc shaped, then I don't see wind being a big factor either. I guess we won't know for sure until someone designs something like this.

Sean-

Your point is valid, after all we have elevators that can carry huge loads.....Sometimes you have to consider what this sort of thing looks like to the general public as well. Sure more than half of the people on this website would ride the thing in a heartbeat, but I look at alot of my friends and family, and I don't think they would do it. Not even for free. It just pushes that boundary, thats all I am trying to get at.

Your point is well taken. I do know a lot of people that wouldn't give something like that a ride also, but then again, I thought the same about TTD. I was wondering if the GP would want to ride it as it is scary looking. As it turns out, the GP love the ride.
