400 foot woodie?

Has anyone read the news and rumours section at Thrillride? Some guy claims that in 2003-2004 there will be a 400 foot woodie going in at SFMM!! I would say thrillride should have made this the "whopper of the week" but it is apparantly the same guy who broke the story about three new coasters going in this year and, as we know, turned out to be right. Is a 400 foot woodie even possible??

Live to RIDE!!!
What the heck? A 400 foot woodie? I couldn't imagine such an insane coaster. There have already been problems with Son of Beast, but a wooden coaster nearly twice as high?

Think about how rough that would be!

...I'd ride it.

...But that's just my opinion. Unless it's also someone else's. *** This post was edited by Brett on 1/25/2001. ***
My sentiments exactly!! I'll bet I'd ride it anyway though; well, at least once, anyhow.
A woodie shouldn't be that high it's just wrong! Leave the heights up to the steel coasters, the out of control feeling of a woodie can be accomplished as a 120' lift. INSANE

Maybe it's a standup inverted woodie.

ouch

Whats a stand-up inverted?
They're talking about it, I saw pics somewhere of what it might look like, I forgot the website though...

I'm thinkin' no. Unless it's a LIM-launched flying woodie with a cobra roll.

For real? Stand up inverted? I thoght that was just a daydream; or someone's idea of a joke.

Don't forget the traditional woodie loop. But seriously, I wonder how many waves would be in that first drop. Up down up down.
It's a floorless standup inverted woodie with a loop. And 400 ft. tall to boot.

I believe everything on Thrillride rumors. There's no way some bored kid is sitting at home dreaming this stuff up. *** This post was edited by Lifthill310 on 1/25/2001. ***
Lordie, you guys can dish out the sarcasm!! OK, I know believing everything on Thrillride is not to be recomended, but the webmaster did say the info came from the same guy who was right about three new coasters this year; so you tell me why it's impossible, or even a bad idea to build a 400 foot woodie? You know the technology is out there to do it right; if the park is willing to make the investment. BIG "if", I know!

I think it sounds cool. However, I strogly doubt it because I think the first 400 footer will not be for a while and when it comes it certainly won't be made of wood.

Man how I love these stupid rumors. (sarcasm please) But think about it..400feet of wood. what a footprint that would have!

Man!!! That's crazy!!! I know that there would have to be a doctor's office right outside of that ride!!! I'm sure he would be kept mighty busy!!! LOL!!!!
400 foot woodie! Ha, that would be the most painful ride ever seen on this face of the earth.

Millennium Force all the way!
400 ft.! My brain would shoot out my butt!

I agree with sfga2001 on this. I don't think a 400 ft. woodie is in the near future. We don't even have a 400footer made of steel on the drawing boards yet...but wow what a drop.
