30 coasters in 24 hours? Cheaters!

I have one question. Why didn't they fly? It would have saved them time.
Why should they have to wait in line? All the record says is that they rode on 30 coasters in one day. It didn't say they waited in line for 30 coasters...it just says what they did. I wish I could have been there with them. I can't believe people booed, what did it do, increase their wait by 1 minute? Some people need to learn a little patience.
Let me just put the way my father would, "quit critisizing from the couch"! If you feel they didn't break the record satisfactory enough, your more than welcome to show them a better way to do it. They did it the best way *they* could. It's easy to bash them while your sitting on you butt playing RCT, at least they did *something*.

I could have done 50 easily. Cedar Point, fly to Sfwoa, fly down to PKI, then Fly back up to kennywood, then drive to Hershey and if i wanted visit SFA if i wanted

So, your saying that these two different Boomerangs in two completely different parks should only be counted as one? Then why have you claimed two different Boomerangs in your coaster count as two coasters?

Don't forget they also counted Callasus as two, becuase they rode it forward and back.

Two seperte roller coasters of the same design isn't the same as riding one of them twice. They actually ARE two seperate roller coasters. It's not like they rode 39 boomerangs anyway.

The journal lady said "If you count Colossus as two coasters" the count would be 40. Key word is IF. And they officially made 39 in the record books. IF IF IF IF IF You count Colossos as two rides (forwards & backwards).
I was amazingly startled at the boos I heard. I was absolutely DISGUSTED with the crowds that did that, and it disturbed me.

First off, they get to ride anyway. It was the SOP (standard operating procedure) to allow everyone in line a chance to ride before they closed the ride.

Secondly, they witnessed history in the making, and were on TV. They really did not represent their parks well. (As much as a guest CAN represent a park.)

The only problem I have is counting Colossus as two coasters. They broke the record anyway, and it didn't matter much.

I find it odd how they took the time to strap the camera onto the coaster. I do not think that should have been done. Nonetheless, I was disgusted with the reaction of the crowd on Demon and Medusa, and for the amount of time they were on each ride (no more than 5 minutes) they were really being idiots.

Oh well, I've vented. I'm surprised that more people don't agree with me. Oh well.

It's coming...
Oh please! So most of you are saying that if you were trying for the most coasters ridden within 24 hours, you wouldn't want to line jump? Riiiigggghhhhhhttttttt... Give me a break. Also, a coaster is a coaster, no matter how large or small. And as long as Guinness says you don't have to stand in line to qualify, then the record stands. You try riding 40 coasters in 24 hours while standing in line during peak season and we'll see how far you get. ;) The GRP people should receive a big round of applause collectively from all of us for their achievement. Way to go GRPs! :)

Medusa at Marine World: the best coaster in the west!
Just to let some of you know, flying is not practical. Sure, planes go much faster, but they probably would have flown into a commercial airport (hey, it's California, isn't every airport there one?) Then they still have to drive to the park! It's not like the parks are located next to an airport (lol. Think about Goliath next to LAX... that would be funny, in a way.)
Also, I'm sure they were getting tight on money, too. I sure hope Discovery, Guiness, or the parks didn't give them money. I think that would, in a way, be cheating.

Why can that never happen?

There is a guiness site that should answer that question. I tried the site, but couldn't find this record -- if anyone else can, please link us/me up! I wanna see the rules, too!

Guiness doesn't give anything to people attempting records.

Also I was happy to see how lively SFMM was especially at Goliath and Psyclone applauding the riders as they were dispatched and returned.

People are selfish in nature and that is showcased in how the SFMW and PGA crowds acted. They want what they want when they want without compromise. Really, i did'nt think one little ride on a B&M coaster with 3 train op could effect anything, unless they were fewer trains.

I was at PGA yesterday and watched the shows, It werid to see the coasters I rode on TV AGIAN! Anyways its real werid how the suppossed evil people cheered and nice people at my home parks booed! Now for the line part guys think about it, its 30 ROLLERCOASTERS in 24 hours not 30 roller coasters in 24 hours while waiting in line. We all put the line waiting thing as an experience. It was litterly 30 roller coaster in 24 hours. I see why people on Demon and Medusa booed. PGA was filled to capacity that night and Demon does get waits you have waited in a semi long line for a ride you like and you have waited and walked around park all day. It wouldn't be nice to see these people doing a made for TV thing knowing how people in this area dislike some of the dot com and heavy croprate image here.
On Medusa, people were probibly riding this coster for the first time! One guy probibly started and they all joined in simple as that!

CONGRATS GRP'ERS!

Was it against the rules to fly. I mean come on it would have saved them a buttload of time.
Guiness or not, exit ramp access is NOT the
way to win the record. What kind of challenge
is that?

Although I frown upon the counting on kiddie coasters on NATIONAL TELEVISION, counting
them for your track record is OK.

There was no REAL challenge, they just needed
warm bodies to fill those seats and make for
some good ''reality television''...blah.
Gripe gripe gripe. Until I see one of you break the record, be quiet. All the whining gets old!

Flying wouldn't be very pratical. I don't know if you've watched any news stories about air travel lately, but basically it's horrible and getting worse every year. One or two delays and you could screw the whole record attempt. For the people who think booing was wrong there's something you only saw for a moment in one segment. That's when they had to remove the camera mount on one of the coasters. I doubt this takes 30 seconds to put it on and take it off and then imagine they did that for almost every coaster. I might get a little aggravated also. I'm not going to get in the semantics of the boomerangs but they also rode two shuttles.

Record or not... the only real purpose of the whole thing was to:

A. Create a TV show that Discovery could sell ads for.
B. Provide free publicity to the parks involved.

The record was a byproduct. It couldn't have been done without those two things.
