13 Boomerang, 9 SLC, and 8 B-TR clones
I'll be in L.A. in a couple of months and will most likely get by Magic Mountain - will be nice to see the all the work they've done in person. *** Edited 3/12/2007 2:38:17 PM UTC by MrSkyWhirl***
If I get time I'll post a more in-depth TR in the TR forum later, but here's the reader's digest version:
I got there at 9am for a coaster event that started at 8am (park opened at 10). Cars were lined up at the parking booths, and I wasn't sure where to go for the event. I pulled around to the drop off section, where I found a very nice, polite employee. Trying to be helpful, she gave me info on how opening usually goes. Then I explained that the event started at 8. She apologized (!) that she didn't know, and said she would check for me if I didn't mind waiting. So I sat there in the car while she went back into the park. After only about 2 minutes or so, she came back with DETAILED information of exactly where to go, etc. and thanked me for waiting while she checked on the info!
Then in the park for ERT, the X crew was as efficient as is possible with the restraint system. Tatsu was only running one train, but given that it was ERT everything but the front row was still walk-on. All the ride ops and ride attendants actually seemed to ENJOY their jobs. Once the park opened at 10, they put the 2nd train on Tatsu (even though they were still only using one side of the station due to staffing). All the other coasters were running 2 trains.
The park was fairly clean, except for around the eating areas, however in those cases I always saw at least one park employee constantly clearing tables, picking up garbage from the ground, and emptying a trash can.
I didn't try riding X during the day because I rode it quite a bit during ERT, but the whole day I don't recall waiting more than about 15 minutes for a coaster, and the lines seemed to move along at a good pace.
I also saw a number of costumed characters throughout the day posing for pictures with kids, etc.
Overall, I was impressed at how much it had improved from my visits the past 2 years!
