For those interested.
Wow. I forgot it was that time of year. Seems like the last one was posted only a couple months ago. I'll probably not participate again this year.
There is a helper that is much easier. You just type in which coaster you want to move into the other field, which you can do in the order that you rank them, and it doesn't take that long.
I'm interested in seeing the results. He's counting Texas Giant as a wooden coaster (surprisingly), so that tops my list this year. Other than the addition of Judge Roy Scream (close to the bottom), my ballot barely changed, though I did move twister higher than Thunder Road.
With new-to-me-parks, obviously come some changes to my rankings. On the whole, I was mightily impressed with the wood at SFStL; The Boss and American Knievel definitely make the top 5. I finally rode Termilypse at SFMM, also top 10 contender for sure. Alas, my first Voyage ride was a few seasons too late it seems, as it finds the fine line between aggressive and rough, then proceeds to crossover it multiple times, IMO. So El Toro successfully defended the title to keep the top prize in Jersey.
As for last place, Georgia Cyclone accomplished the unthinkable task of making Colossus at Magic Mountain seem mildly irritating by direct comparison. Here's hoping the topper can do the trick for the track...
They Live. We Sleep.
Calling the new Texas Giant a wood coaster is like calling Gemini a wood coaster. There's no difference.

I actually wonder if Texas Giant could have been left on the wood poll by mistake. I noticed American Thunder at SFSTL is still listed as Evel Knievel in the poll.

Texas Giant, as it turns out, is one of the errors left in, and he noted it. I posted that before I read that. Thankfully I hadn't sent my ballot in yet and just had to go in and delete TG, and just change the numbers for the rest by one.
For me, Judge Roy rounds out the bottom 5 and I moved Twister a little higher, but otherwise, El Toro is still the best wooden coaster I've ridden by a long shot. And I'm one that got the great rides in 2010 on Voyage (which is still one of the best, though I'm glad I missed this year).
I never would have considered the possibility that Voyage could relinquish its lofty perch...alas, it really did. And my rides on Toro this year after HWN only confirmed that Toro *is* the pole-sitter....for now. Funny how NTG being included makes Toro seem so much more reasonable as a wooden coaster. ;)
Two new TGGs will make it near the top of my list - Zippin Pippin being one of the greatest double O-n-B designs since, well, ever....and Wooden Warrior being an absolute BEAST at all of 35' high.

Nuh uh!! Gemini has tubular track and upstop pads! Texas Giant uses I-Beams and upstop wheels! Everyone knows that!

Considering that the world is going to end this year, it is quite fitting that there were exactly 666 ballots submitted.
Wow..My #1 is #1..and I didn't even vote!

I would have thought 2 of the Kennywood trio would have ranked higher :(

I've only rode 2 of the top 12 wooden coasters.I really need to get out more.lol At least El toro is one of them, it's definitely my favorite wooden.Thunderhead is at the top of my list too,so the other coasters that ranked higher must be pretty awesome.I can't wait to try them out.
