Understand that just because there's a problem on one day, doesn't mean there will be the next day. The way I understand it, the system does a batch update overnight that trades data with the latest set. If that's the case, a problem one day would likely resolve itself by the next. I don't think it's real time.

We got our PP vouchers for 2010 for $140. They again would not accept the coupon even though it said that the coupon was valid ANY day of the the 2009 or 2010 season.
We will still have to get the vouchers activated and turned into cards since we had KI PP for 2009. I am sure that our first park will be KD or CW depending on when they open up in April. They told us we could use the vouchers there.
Someone at the GOCC event also mentioned that they were able to get their 2009 cards activated the last weekend of the 2008 season at KI. I hope something like this might be the case this year as it would save time next season.

Really? I find that hard to believe.
<edit>
I just realized you said KI. I still find it suspect. But, I guess I have no idea what goes on there. I don't think they would have been as lucky at Cedar Point.

That's what I did last year at kings island.
I think it was closing weekend at kings island. I just went to the season pass office, showed my 2008 pass, paid, they said I was all set and I use the same pass.
When spring came along, I went to kings island and used the pass with no issues. The following week, I went to cedarpoint and it did not work. I went thrue the parking tollbooth and when they scanned it, I got a red x. Same thing happend at the gate.
I had to go to guest services, and after waiting 20 min, they told me that I had to sign in to get a comp ticket.I have never had to do this before. There were several other people in the guest services office that were having the same problem as I was. The manager said it has always been like this(I knew he was wrong, as I had a ki season pass last year and had no issues at cp). The next weekend, I went back to cedarpoint, and I ran into the same issue. The problem was still not fixed.
I ended up having to exchange my ki platinum pass, for a cp platinum pass. It was a big inconviniance, as I was with a group of people and they had to sit around and wait for me.
I also have a six flags pass with the parking on it, and have never had any issues with it. Why is cedarfair having so many issues with such a simple system? Six flags has had the system in place for many years now. Cedarfair needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.

Dave, I also processed my 09 KI-PP in Sept 08, and not only did I not have to do anything in 09, my KI-PP worked at Knotts perfectly in January 09 to boot! My KI-PP also worked fine at CP at the end of May this year (my first visit).
So it looks like I'll be able to process my 2010 KI-PP on Sept 27th (as a renewal) without incident! Yay!! :)
Hey Dave, as I predicted KI was a real gem yesterday! (Sunday) While the season pass line was crazy throughout, Nick U was packed, and the parking lot was full...the ride waits were very minimal! (Diamondback barely cracked 15 mins)
Also, while I wasn't a huge fan of not being able to renew my PP with my same card (since it was issued in 08 anyway I guess it's understandable), I was still able to process my 2010 PP with the new card. I'll be looking forward to trying this at Knott's in January! (which I have a good feeling it should work fine)
Tried to "re-up" while I was at CP last weekend, got nowhere fast. The lady at pass processing was nicely explaining that "you can't buy your '10 PP here unless you're coming to CP first?" I countered with "but that pass is supposed to be valid at any park in the chain, can't I process it at whatever park I end up going to first?" Then some older guy came up behind her and he was somewhat less pleasant. I understand that my pass was fom PKI and that they would have to take a new picture...but I was JUST trying to buy a 2010 PP from a CF park for CF parks - why should that be so difficult?
Five minutes after entering Group Sales/Pass Processing, I left with a bad taste in my mouth and the feeling that either Dorney (PPP weekend) or Knott's (Solace weekend) will likely get the *credit* for my SP sale....since CP wanted no part of it... :-/
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
I am going to get mine at kings island in a few weeks.
I just bought my six flags pass in georgia for $49.99. Cedarfair want's $160.00.....ouch!!

Surprisingly, KI was beyond knowledgeable!! Before even asking any questions, the person who processed my pass answered everything before I could speak my first word. I was seriously stunned!
The only minor snag was being told my current Platinum Pass with the screaming girl on Delirium would have to be retired, for what looked to be a generic Cedar Fair Platinum Pass (but it still said KI). The CP experience sounds like dreck for sure!
Just an update. We were at KI on Sunday and had no problem what so ever having them activate our 2010 KI Platinum Passes using our vouchers from CP.
We are all ready to head south next year to ride the Timmys.

I would say it was some of the very worst customer-service experience I've had at any CF park. I got the heck out of there before the "gentleman" ruined my night - at least he only got to be rude to me for a couple minutes. Seriously, I'm trying to spend money....your job is to TAKE it. ;)
It appears the customer service under CedarFair is worse than it was under Paramount, which was already pretty bad
I got my 2010 PP last weekend At KD for 150.. They would not knock off the 5 bucks Because my PP was from KI.. which to me makes no sense! Got my Pic taken and they said I was good to Go for 2010.
I got my PP from Knotts at the begining of this year and it never worked at any Park! It got stolen at Cedar Point and they could never find me in the system anywhere! I even called Knotts and got my Season Pass Number.. but that didn't help anything. Cedar Point Didn't do jack for me about it, but the next day we drove down to KI. They had no problem replacing them!! My GF pass was from KD so they could look hers up, but they really Just took my word for it.. I didn't even have ID (it was stolen also) I was very happy !!! I think they bent the rules on that one!
No I don't have a kid, but I still want to ride!
Phareous, most of our issues have been with Cedar Point not any of the former Paramount parks. The customer service at CP was as awful. It was 180 degrees different at KI. I handed the CP vouchers to the clerk and he did have to give them to the Season Pass manager to have them changed into KI season passes for him to process. This took all of 2 minutes and was done with a pleasant smile.

This is yet another reason I get my pass at Kings island, instead of cedar point. Cedar point is just a big hassle.

crazy horse, we would have but KI never announced what they were doing for platinum passes this year. When CP announced $140 we took them up on it. When you are buying 4 passes that extra $10 per adds up.

Why is it every year that the season pass thread comes up again. I cannot understand what is so hard about such a simple system. You buy a card allowing you to park and gain entry to any cedar fair park and possibly waterpark. Why do some parks work and others not be able to understand this.
Every year around this time i am reading the same thing.
