2006 SF Kentucky Kingdom

yes, you are right
Actually, I can remember one Wednesday that we were running both trains on Chang. The thing that was odd was that T2 was only running one train. Maybe we had some big wigs in the park that day and we're trying to 'impress' them or something.

However, the real problem is the constant choice to run just one train on the ride. That, combined with crappy crews, makes SFKK nothing short of hellish to visit.

T2 has one of the best crews at sfkk. Just thought I'd point that out. *** Edited 7/30/2005 5:35:59 AM UTC by Steel158***

Really? The T2 crewed sucked last year. Second longest line in the park, because the op couldn't put her cell phone down, and the lead op (who had to be 30ish) was too busy pedophiling it up with the 16 year old girl checking restraints.

And this is coming from someone who enjoyed SFKK...

Ouch. Part-time Employees haven't been allowed to carry cell phones for at least two years now, and I'm sure whoever those ops were were fired shortly after this incident, especially if guests reported it. The crews change every year, and this year they are much more on the ball with things. At least thats how it appears to me.

Even the best crew at SFKK is crappy compared to most other parks.

But not with compared to SFA.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
Coasterdude I disagree. Last year the crew working Chang was doing a more than adequate job and the Thunder Run crew was doing a fantastic job. I wish the place wasn't so busy, we would have loved to get many more rides on TR, it was really a fun ride.

I too have heard that Quake and the Dragsters are going away. For 2006 I'd doubt a new coaster especially with serious expansions from 2 of the 3 surrounding parks (PKI hasn't announced their 2006 addition yet). I have heard that 2006 will see a water park expansion which would be smart because it seems like the water park is all that 75% of SFKK's visitors seem to care about.

Wow, you are really bitter towards that park! Some ride op must have stolen your money or something. Or maybe you are just blinded by the lack of exciting rides, and the small size of the park!

When did you go last year? I just want to know who those crews were that were working then.

I think you meant Chaos, not quake. I know you know quake is already gone!

Steel158 I think it was either August 13th or 14th, it was a Saturday.

I'm not "bitter," I just happen to think it's the poorest-operated park in the country. I think the park has plenty of exciting rides. I'm not bothered by the size of the park, or by the many other things that bother other people (the bridge, for instance). I just think the park is generally ugly, poorly-operated with no regard for capacity or guest service, and even at times unsafe. That's not a park I need to spend time or money at.

Agreed Nate.

I like the variety of attractions and the bridge is a non-issue to me.

Some of the crews on the coasters leave alot to be desired. It's bad enough that Chang runs on a 1-train operation considering the shear size of the thing. Even when the park is not crowded, you are still waiting a good 45 minutes for that ride. To make it worse, the ops were taking their sweet time checking restraints. Then when the train is dispatched, you are waiting quite awhile for it to get back into the station.

Explain to me how Iron Wolf at SFGAm being almost half the size of Chang runs 2-trains constantly, and even on dead days?

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

I agree. SFKK could be run much better than is already is right now. Also, I have seen numerous areas of the park that could definitely use some sprucing up, especially with the weeds growing around the Twisted Twins area of the park. Weeds growing above part of the coaster track. I mean, come on. This ride could definitely use some major TLC! Also, I think Chang could definitely use a 2-train operation, even during the weekdays, when the park is usually slower. Another paint job would be nice as well. I know that the waterpark area is jammin', even during the week. About potentially adding another water attraction o Hurricane Bay, I don't know how SFKK management can pull that off. I know that Chaos and the Top Eliminator Dragster rides are rumored to be next on the "chopping block". Maybe another waterpark attraction can be "shoehorned" into the grass area in the waterpark by the Giant Wheel, or, if indeed the Chaos ride is removed, another waterpark attraction could go there if the Great Race ride is relocated or removed, along with those two small eateries by the Great Race. Nobody has even discussed this, but what about relocating Thunder Run to another part of the park? That would DEFINITELY open up some space for the waterpark. Now I'll discuss T2. This ride is getting WORSE year by year. The paint is coming off like flies. I wonder if this ride's days are numbered as well, considering the shape it is in right now. If T2 is removed, that would open up space as well, but I would want SFKK management up apply for a B&M invert ASAP! If Top Eliminator is removed, I believe that space could be used for either a small roller coaster or 2-3 flat rides. One more thing before I wrap up my message. Does SFKK plan to use any of the land behind Mile High Falls and Twisted Twins. Will they do anything with that parcel of land? Any info would be appreciated!
First of all, I found the part about relocating thunder run to another part of the park kinda funny. As many steel coasters are packaged up and moved from park to park, I don't think wooden coasters are moved to different sections of the park terribly often. I could be wrong!

Second of all, I'm sure SFKK management is working on expansion plans for the park, but the other problem is money. Budgetting at a park that small must be very difficult, and if they aren't getting the attendance needed, they won't be adding anything in the near future. I'm sure Hurricane Dennis hurt their budget quite a bit as last I heard they could barely get 1000 people in the park on one of those rainy days.

Who knows what SFKK has up their sleeves. They greatest thing to hit that park in the past 8 years was Chang, so I'd say they are about due for another huge surprise! We shall see.

I just rememeber when I worked at SFKK back in 1998, they preached to keep the rollercoaster trains and the ride area itself clean! There reasoning was because guest feel more safe at a park and especially on a ride if it's not covered in dirt and the Q-Line isn't trashed.

Man how times have changed!

All i have to say is SFKK is due for a big roller coaster. I say in the next 2 years.
They really don't have room for another "BIG" coaster. Unless you mean something like Greezed Lightnin' which just got installed in 2003.
Employees at a theme park have to have high standards. If they are not given high standards, then they will not work at a decent level of service to the guests. I believe that the problem at SFKK is that the management at the park does not set high of standards for their employees. It takes discipline even at work for some employees.
