2002 "The Year Of The Rollercoaster"

Cedar Fair has made no such statement. You must be thinking of Busch and Six Flags statement about reducing capital expenditures for the next few years.

I do believe Dorney will start to develop the part of the park beyond Steel Force and Laser. Dorney is on a roll! They have gotten a new major attraction every year since 1995!

Talon=Awesome

Was that a hint Jeff? ;-)

The last thing Cp needs is another hyper, they have already proved themselves that they have good hypers. Now they can take on another coaster, an example- flying, and make it the tallest, fastest, and best run, of them all. Maybe they could work out the bugs.
I truely HOPE that Six Flags St. Louis gets something in 2002! They need a record-breaker or hyper/giga, or BOTH (record-breaking giga)!!
Jeff,Kinzel stated when CF took over MA that the park will not be getting a hyper for 2002.
He did mention it happening somewhere down the road.:)
As for the remark on the hotel and new pay as you play waterpark,I was jokingly refering to the way it seems that CF is running their parks.
Look it up Jeff it's what Kinzel told the local press.(News thread 6-6-2001)

You said Cedar Fair wouldn't add it... that implies the entire company. If that's not what you meant, you should choose your words more carefully.

PaulD - CP announced 2002's Wicked Twister, their Intamin Impulse coaster, long ago. As for SFWoA and Carowinds you can kiss hypers goodbye, at least as far as 2002 is concerned. Dorney is getting a flat. We heard all the new-for-2002 coasters announced, people. No more Arrow 4Ds, no more hypers, no more gigas, no more flyers, no more woodies. 2002 is signed, sealed, and delivered. And don't look for 2003 to be any better.

2002 - the year of LoCoSuMo!!

It depends which flyer you're talking about. AIR opened yesterday, and there are plenty of pics from here. S:UF will definitely not open until April, and there will be no new pictures until the park is open (saturday).

PLEASE NOTICE THIS TOPIC IS FROM JUNE

Sim Simma....who got the keys to ma Beema!!

Why doesnt anyone mention SFNE floorless...

-----------------
Out of the coasters i've ridden here is what I rank them overall:(ive been to canobie lake and SFNE)
1. S:RoS 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Riverside Cyclone 4. Canobie
Corkscrew 5. Thunderbolt 6. Galaxy 7. Mind Eraser 8. Dragon coaster 9. poison ivy's tangl

Mike, nobody had a clue about that last June. Otherwise they would have. Back then people didn't even have a clue about S:UF. I think that it still was a SF secret that Viper was comming down.

The crop of wood in "double naught" was SO good, I'm still enjoying the bountiful harvest! There was some great steel then too...this year has been drought-ridden for wood, but they've mined enough ore to build some good steel this year...

Dave, at least the '01 retrofits were a benefit to the rides...those Premier launch coasters were VASTLY improved, and adding a shed on GR I'm sure was NOT a major disappointment for riders...

feeling so country, I'm gonna go get myself a pop...

Wow. Seeing as it's the offseason, it's really hard to believe people were so impatient during the season. Heck, I'd give a lot for it to be 6/17/2001 instead of 3/18/02, but a lot of people back then seemed to be really anxious for now. I guess the grass is always greener...

AC?, RB?, MF?, DD?, PR? Who can keep track of it all?

Why are we raising up the dead? It could come back to bite some people. So strange some times to look back in retrospect at things like wishful rumors or talk about "New" coasters.
