2002 "The Year Of The Rollercoaster"
Sounds like 2002 will be the most exciting year in rollercoaster history. S And S said there is another Hypersonic coming. Arrow has said 2 more 4D's and a fish hook. Michigan Adventure's Hyper.
King's Island already clearing land (good sign for a major coaster. The B&M flying coaster. And the much anticipated Cedar Point come back. It's going to br a cool year for riding. Your thoughts.

im supposed to be goin to Michigan's Adventure for 2002. i know Cedar Fair bought MA but i must have messed somehting about the hyper can you get me back up to date with that thanks.

I'll call it the most exciting year in RC history if Six Flags Darien Lake gets coasters, The Great Escape gets coasters, and Cedar Point gets coasters (At least 1 coaster for each park)...
Then, personally... it'll be the year of the coaster... as long as they are also not CLONES!!!

I would have to say that 2000 was the year. This year we've got half as many new rides, and we don't actually know anything about 2002 yet.

I agree, 2002 can only get better. There was so much excitement last year, that this year is a let down. Late openings (Deja Vu), 1 train operation (Hypersonic), Six Flags dirty park bashing, woman dies (Goliath), it's a bad year.
I'm saving my money for next year. Heck, I'm doubting whether X will be ready this year at all.
Hypersonic "wowed" everyone, but blew it because of the long lines and break downs. FOF gets rave reviews, but it's the same ride. Nitro opened on time and is the B&M coaster of the year. Nothing else is making everyone go wow like MF did last year.
CP picked the perfect year to build the camp ground, because Six Flags and PKD blew it.
CP will come back with something big next year and wow us again.
And yes, give us the full version of the rides, not the smaller clones.

Every year lately has been the "year of the coaster" IMO yeah it just keeps on getting better and better. BRING ON MORE COASTERS !
The year of the roller coaster was 2000, most def. Debut of Goliath, Millennium Force. New stuff like the flying Dutchman

I think you'll all be suprised when no new coasters appear at Cedar Point and instead they focus their resources on further improvement of their facilities. It seems that every single person here is pracitically gauranteeing Cedar Point will get One/Two/Three/Twenty new coasters this year and these will be Thrust Air 2000/4D/B&M Flying/Floorless/Woodie/Second Giga - Heck I know what they are going to do - They are going to build a second Giga identicle to MF and have it run parallel so that the trains race each other, and they will do this with the EVERLASTING supply of money you all seem to think they have!!!
Personally I could careless if it's a clone as long as it's good. I don't see why people are always bashing clones, and Six Flags for building all sorts of clones. But you have to look at it this way. Most families aren't going to drive more that five hours to go to an amusement park (well except the Griswalds). So to enthusiasts like us they are clones, but to the everybody else they are just good rides. So in closing, don't be knocking clones.

It's very possible that Cedar Fair will top Six Flags in 2002.

(1) Valleyfair B&M Inverted Coaster for 2002, water park will be seperate from VF, will be moved out near the pinic cove, the new coaster will be in the original spot of White Water Country, highly expected 2002 what do you think?
(2) New giga hyper for Knott's Berry Farm.
(3) New giga hyper for Mighigan's Adventure.
(4) Three new coasters for Cedar Point.
(5) I don't know our haven't heard anything for Worlds Of Fun.
What do you think what will happen with Cedar Fair for 2002, are they stering something big up?

Please no more clones of X-Flight we need new layouts for flying coasters. I heard something About a B&M Heartline prototype coaster at Thrillride.
CF has already stated that they will not add a new hyper coaster for 2002 and that they'll be working on adding landscaping and food improvements.
Which more or less means they're adding a hotel and scraping and building a new water park not included with your addmission......
