Well, these awards should be coming out soon. What does everyone think will happen? Keep in mind this really isn't a personal opinion or ranking of the rides, just what will happen with these awards
Going by some of last years numbers, the park Winners are almost sure things. CP will retain the best park and Capacity awards while Holiday World will keep the friendliness and cleanliness awards
Steel-While the favorite is probably the powerhouse Millennium Force, my money is on S:RoS at SFNE. It rocketed from #10 to #2 last year with a massive number of votes even ousting the favorite Magnum. Right now it only stands 80 or so points behind Millennium Force after a huge gain last year. One Interesting note there was about a 300 point gap between the top 3 (MF, S:RoS, and Magnum) and the #4 coaster. So those 3 should stay at the top. I think Phantoms Revenge and Nitro will also jump in the poll, both of them being top 10 contenders with solid starts in their inaugural seasons.
Wood- I think its going to be a great race. Raven and Timbers have been the perennial favorites. Meanwhile The Legend slowly gained ground in 2000 and 2001 from the number #7 to #5 spot, but with those new trains it could be a serious contender for the top spot. Then there is Boulder Dash which jumped from #12 to #3 last year and based on it winning the NAPHA poll last year in just one short year it could be the one to beat (though I think Legend is still better ;).

God is Good!
The Phoenix
Shivering Timbers
GhostRider
The Legend
Texas Giant
The Raven
S:RoS ( SFNE ) all the way!
--------------
I don't know about SROS. I mean it's my favorite coaster, but so many more people go to Cedar Point than to SFNE.
For wood, I think Boulderdash will fall (how did it get #3?). I like it, but again, you have to look at who visits the parks. Lake Compounce isn't that big, so not a lot of voters will vote for it.
-----------------
I lost my hat on Poison Ivy. How pathetic.
Methinks this is an "-est" thread in disguise, but I'll play along.
I'd have to think that The Legend would get serious consideration for the top spot. I've never been on Timbers, but Legend seems to be "most improved" with the new trains. Most of the SRMers seemed to favor Legend over Raven this year.
As far as steel is concerned, I think X will lose a considerable amount of "votes" due to its inoperation for most of the year.

MWB, I see your point about the "-est" thing, but it's not really my PERSONAL favs, see what I'm sayin'....I'm sayin! Anywho, as far as Timbers is concerned....overrated, IMO...(bill ducking)....I'd take Raven or Legend, or Cornball or Phoenix, or HP's WildCat or LR....let's just say it (ST) wasn't having it's best day...;). Legend with the PTC's was awesome, and leapt many other coasters....thanks to Tom Rebbie, I even MAY prefer the headless coaster over its older brother....unlike 'Tuan, I am a woodie *AFICIANADO*....:)
Steel, now that I'll leave to the rest of you to argue over while I get many, many re-rides on S:RoS....
Zeus should gain a few points from the people like me that actually liked it, and Colossos at Heide got very favourable reviews as well.
It'll be interesting to see how things turn out though, that's for sure...
I wonder where Xcelerator will debut on the rankings this year. Its an awesome ride, but it faces some very tough competition for the top 10 spot. We will see. IMO, it won't make it that far this year.
-----------------
Xcelerator-
0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!
-----------------
But know the self proclaimed "airtime-whorishness" nature of many enthusiasts (bye bye The Legend) and their obsession with location (sorry ST), visuals (peace Phoenix), and length (bon voyage Raven), only Boulder Dash seems to fit the bill. Now this is just an outside observation as I've only ridden the HW woodies of the preceeding list. But Boulder Dash looks simply unequaled.
The *real* tragedy though is that the GCIs will once again get the shaft!
On the steel side, I think S:ROS-NE will take top honors, FINALLY de-throning Cedar Point. I think *another* Superman will also creep up: Kypton Coaster @ SFFT. Hopefully though, Raptor will also be ousted, leaving only Montu as the true god of inverts :)

What about Raptor? Wasn't that numero cinco (for those who don't know spanish, number 5) on the list last year? Raging Bull deffinitly needs some recognition too.

Okay.....we all knew you were making a funny, but selecting Little A-Merrick-A for 'best landscaping' was just plain cruel and uncalled for. Take it back.
I mean, you might as well nominate them for 'Best Paved Parking Lot' and run over a few helpless kittens and puppies while you're at it. Yeesh.
