2001 What Happened?

I think Phantom's Revenge knocked the socks off of everyone who rode it.  I've ridden it probably 100 times, and I STILL duck going under the Thunderbolt.  It really was a unique thing: take a coaster and make it better.  (If only Vekoma could do this with the SLC!)

2001 was a major year for me: it was the start of my coaster enthusiasm! Also, I got to ride a bunch of unique and awesome coasters when I took my western trip (Los Angeles). And a nice topping off, I rode my first Vekoma SLC (Deja Vu), which packed a great punch!

I'd say the 2001 season was alright. It wasn't exactly the best, but it wasn't the worst. The good thing is that we got new coasters and lots of them. I'm sure that will attract more people next season since half of the rides weren't open. There weren't that many people at the parks, i've seen way more people in my first season working there, which was '99. The guests weren't too bad this year, but they weren't exactly good either. There were alot of pot smokers in line for batman that stunk up the place for a long time. The employees were great people, but some of them weren't exactly the best workers. Some would try to have guest interaction but just end up making them mad. On the other side there were alot of employees that were good at what they did. Another bad thing about this year is that they promoted alot of first year people. I feel that promoting a first year employee is making a mistake. They need to gain experience in what they are doing before they can be incharge of everything. Another great thing about this season is that the cleaning wasn't that bad at all. Last year it was a disaster, but this year, it was great. I felt that my supervisors and full time did a great job in the 2001 season to keep everyone safe and happy throughout the year. I saw the management out at the rides than i had seen in my previous two years. I feel that management visitation is a great thing. The downside of our management was favoritism. They had too much favoritism toward the new rides and their employees. They would do things like, pull away everyone's extra people to clean up the new rides so they could go home and leave us with no one. Also they would staff 25 people at the new ride, this is not sarcasm they really did this, when other rides were only staffed with 3 people. But they still got us our staffing to run for the day and have sufficient breakers. Overall i would say the 2001 season was ok, but the 2002 season should be awesome.
wow that was long...sorry guys, i didn't realize i wrote that much until i saw it! but i was honest about it all.
I had a great time, went to 8 parks and 4 fairs, and made some great friends. No dissapointments on my end.

Good year for me...made it to IOA, BGT, BGW, PKI, CP, and SFWOA. Added about 10 coasters to the track record, became a semi-enthusiast. I can't wait to get to some new parks next year, but this year was a ton of fun...and that's really what it's all about for me :)

The past three seasons have been absolutely fantastic.  Travel up North in the summers and ride great coasters with great friends, then come back to FL for some off-season rides (and the d*&^ job).  But my first SRM, PKI's CoasterCamp, my first PPP, and a few other trips outside the Sunshine State have made 2001 "the best coaster year ever".  If '02 works out as well as '01 did, I am just plain spoiled...

First times for me in 2001: Silverwood, Holiday World, Knoebels, Lake Compounce, CI Cyclone, S:RoS SFNE to name a few. Not bad at all, see signature.

22 parks so far in 2001.
Tremors, my 100th coaster.
Ghostrider, stopped counting laps at 100.

Yeah 2001 what a real off year, I only got 901 laps on Magnum.  Gezz '01 was an awesome year, with Hypersonic, Phantom's Revenge, X-Flight and Talon being the only new coasters I got on I was still impressed with them.  I would have loved to have gotten on Nitro, Goliath, Titan, and a whole host of other new coasters.

Each passing year it gets better!
