The "Pusher" Launched Slide is Real?

Several years ago, there was a concept for a dueling launched water slide in which a giant pusher rams the boats from behind and pushes them up a hill. My memory ain't what it used to be but I want to say that Jeff even made an op-ed about companies releasing pie-in-the-sky ideas that'll never come to fruition.

Fast forward several years and it looks like not only is this (sort of) real, but it's on a cruise ship and has a really interesting implementation: the "pusher" is on roller coaster track and is propelled by LSMs. See for yourself

I have some thoughts:

1.This looks cool AF and seems like it would be very thrilling to go that fast in an inner tube
2. I feel like there are a lot of ways this could go horribly wrong, like if the seat separated from the bottom of the boat or if the boat got stuck on the flume

After the machines declare war on us, will it be better to be launched so your face scrapes against the top of that slide tube, or would you prefer being yeeted into the ocean?

This also reminds me of my own impractical ride innovation the Roller Toaster.

Well, there's another ship I need to try.

I wish someone other than Carnival would put that coaster on one.

I wouldn't trust Carnival to ride it.

This looks like another Verrückt incident waiting to happen. No thanks.

Risk tolerance is a slider, knowing what happened with Verruckt, if given the option, I would take a ride on it today.

That being said, I wouldn't risk a mid tier vacation on Carnival either.

Assuming that the company that makes the launch is reasonably competent, I think the risk of a tube getting pushed into the slide too fast is fairly low since it's computer controlled. My concerns are more regarding what happens if the tube stops moving but the pusher keeps going.

We just name it “The Eviscerator”.
