Clementon Lake Park (NJ)

Okay, call me a "bad" enthusiast (especially a traditional park enthusiast), but I have never made the two-hour drive from my home in northern NJ to Clementon Lake park in south Jersey. I've been meaning to get there for years so I can ride their woodie, the Jack Rabbit, but I suppose that I have always picked another, more "coaster-intensive" park when the opportunity arose.

During the next few weeks (perhaps on a Saturday), I would like to finally get down there. Does anyone have any tips for visiting this park? Are crowds ever unbearable, or would it be possible to keep on riding the Jack Rabbit over and over again? Are there any other rides in the park worth riding? I haven't ever seen a post about this park on Coasterbuzz, but I figured that someone must know something!

You should certainly go! I used to live in New Jersey about 2 hours from the park and I never went. I didn't even know about it until just before I moved.

I've really developed a strong affection for traditional parks over the years and while the huge parks are fun, nothing beats the relaxed and stress-free feeling of a traditional park.

Clementon Amusement Park is in Clementon, NJ which I think is just across the Pine Barrens from Toms River - probably about 50 miles or so. Although, I'm from north Jersey and not always up to date on what goes on "down south."

Why are you a "bad" enthusiast just cause you dont bother with little parks? I dont. And I dont think of myself as bad (actually, I dont consider myself much of an enthusiast either...)

I live only 10 minutes away but have not been there in a couple of years. I think it is worth the visit just to ride the Jack Rabbit. It is one of the oldest operating coasters in the country and is actually fun to ride. The other rides they had last time I was there were the typical flat rides. A few rides worth trying are the traditional classics such as the whip, tilt-a-whirl and log flume. These are much better then the newer rides of today. It's really a shame that they don't have any room to expand. They could have become another Kennywood or Hershey but there are too many houses and regulations in place now to allow it. Probably why it has been up for sale for 2+ years now. Have fun
