DH Morgan or Arrow at Kennywood
That's funny, I haven't heard Kennywood ANNOUNCE anything about any coaster, other than that they intend to build one to replace Steel Phantom.
It's worth noting that "gigacoaster" is pretty much an Intamin thing. They haven't trademarked it or anything, but I can almost guarantee that you won't see other manufacturers using the term.

I honestly don't think anything could make M Force and S Dragon seem like nothing. So I doubdt that aspect of it. I don't think Kennywood will have the worlds tallest coaster next year either. I DO think that they will have the longest drop and the fastest though. Kennywood will utilize its ravines just like they did with Steel Phantom, TBolt, and Jack Rabbit. I can't wait to ride it no matter who builds it! If Morgan or Arrow do build it I hope they come up with a new track design or this thing could be VERY rough after a few years. Does anyone know if Morgan's new track on S Dragon has the wheels on the outside of the track like M Force?

An important point that you made is the length of the drop. Being tall is cool, but statistically speaking, a large drop is large because it is long, not because the coaster is high. So, if KW does establish a new world record drop that is the important record, who really cares how tall this or that coaster is?
Then again, statistics alone often don't add up to a good ride.

Steel Phantom 1991-2000, I didn't say Kennywood would be getting a Giga coaster like it was a fact. I stated that this is what I think they will get IMO. What is KPU?? By your comment I take it that it is an unofficial Kennywood web site. I have never visited it so obviously I did not base my opinion on it. My opinion is based on the fact that they are taking out a former record breaker. It would make sense that they would put in some type of new record breaker. If you are so confident you know what they are going to build then please enlighten us with your information as to what it will be.
CP Twister, I never said that they were not getting a "gigacoaster" I was simplay saying that it wouldn't be an Arrow. The KPU part of my post was directed to ddog, Kennywood didn't say that. According to the fine folks at KPU an Arrow employee told them that. Since when do Arrow emplyees talk to the GP about YTBA rides.
Sorry Steel Phantom 1991-2000 I obviously misinterpreted what you said. I actually wish it was Intamin or Giov. (can't remember how to spell it, they built Goliath) that was building Kennywood's new coaster. I guess Arrow would be my last choice. If for some reason Arrow is building it then I hope they have a new track design as I mentioned previously.
By the time that they announced the removeal I'd say that by then (about one year before the replacment is set to open) they had picked a company. If they we're planning on putting a coaster in for 2002 they would have been talking to different firms a few months ago. So for the 2001 coaster they would have been talking to companies about a new rollercoaster in 1999.
