Not quite the large scale rides being announced at Cedar Point or Dorney, but a nice addition to Kings Island as well:
There might be a dozen people choosing between a trip to Cedar Point and SFMM this year. Maybe four of them base it on "the record."
I said that because they could use more, and higher quality, (a flyer perhaps, a launched) not just because of the overall count, as this thread is about KI announcing its 5th kid's coaster. SFMM has 4. CP has 2.
I hope Forbidden Frontier re-use will be more than another adult coaster. I mean a kids GCI that interacts with an adult GCI would be perfect.
And since TTD was down CP wasn't even the coaster capital of CF, CW was.
And they still sell merch with Coaster Capital on it, which needs asterisks.
A park doesn't need the most roller coasters to be able to call themselves The Coaster Capitol of the World. Kennywood calls themselves that too, and I think they have five or six coasters.
Soapbox Racers... I love the name and theme. I really like the layout. I think the ride will look great from the midways. Two big spikes, one going over the main midway and one going away from it.
I find it ironic, or strange, or funny, that Holiday World is getting a simmalr ride this year. The two parks are pretty close to each other, and I'm sure thefamilies living between the two parks are going to have a more difficult time deciding which park to go to this year because of the similar new coasters.
It looks like the stage for the Snoopy shows and meet and greets is going to be repurposed for the new play area. A play area is a good idea, because some kids just need to run and climb.
I'm not the target audience, but this is a great addition.

First, I really like the repaint of the inverted coaster to make it look like a tree. Even better if they hang a kite prop from it somewhere.
This is a solid add for KI, especially considering the accompanying "campsite" themed area with arranged "camptivities" (their word) for kids. People in surrounding suburbs have been using KI for pseudo-daycare for decades; this new area seems to acknowledge that by encouraging even more families to visit (WLWT blurb has a mention of giving parents a break while kids raise flags, etc).
Hoping this brings enough additional gate to justify adding a nice RMC in Vortex Valley down the road. "Twisted Beast" has a nice ring to it.. :)

Interesting idea, but I'd rather see an RMC shoehorned back into SOB's old station.
Use "Vortex Valley" for a nice Mack or next-gen Vekoma multi-looper, or maybe even a B&M Wingrider.

Did I take a nap and wake up in 2003? When does Six Flags Worlds of Adventure make their announcement for next year?
I was semi-being tongue in cheek, and I'm talking Kids coasters, KI will have 5 kids' coasters, and MM has 4.
CP for having the best variety of adult coasters in North America has 2, an ancient Intamin and a late 90's Vekoma clone. Granted Blue Streak, Mine Ride, & Iron Dragon, and now Wild Mouse tech Junior.
But still, a flyer, something launched, something like Pony Express at Knott's would be cheapish, and family friendly, easily themed, and also help the coaster count.
With the addition of Snoopy's Soap Box Racers, Kings Island will become the Kids Coaster Capital of the World, offering five different coaster experiences for future thrill seekers.
My Guess on what they are thinking:
Aerial Chase
Woodstock Express
Great Pumpkin Coaster
Surf Dog
Adventure Express?
