The gravy joke with regard to enthusiasts has been around as long as this site. I'd like to think that it was a self-deprecating thing among enthusiasts to talk about the "gravy buffet" as a feature of enthusiast events. And as someone who made sure there was beer at my events (though I'd hardly call that an innovation), guilty as charged. People like to eat in general. I know some folks took it personally, but it never felt directed at anyone in particular.
But now, it appears that Holiday World is teasing a... gravy boat. They're good people, and I know they're not trying to punk anyone, but it is quite literally delicious in nature as it relates to our little hobby.
Disappointingly, CoasterBuzz is the second result on Google for "gravy buffet," behind an actual recipe. There was a period of time, when it was easy to game Google, that ACE was the first result. Maybe we were kind of mean in the aughts.

I just left Holiday World and noticed the construction. The last time I visited was 2005 right before The Voyage opened so I have great timing.
Mean? I don't think so.
At one HWN, after the fried chicken buffet, when the ERT started, an enthusiast boarded Voyage and then asked my wife if she would lower his lapbar for him because "my hands are covered in chicken grease."
That dude, and anyone else who cannot be bothered with basic personal hygiene, absolutely deserves to be made fun of.
I suppose because I'm older and more self-aware, I'm less comfortable with applying negative stereotypes. I cringe at some things that I wrote back then as, at best, immature. Admittedly, this one is rooted in some observation, and in those days I didn't have a lot of self-control when eating myself.

I think I may have been responsible for ACE being the top result on Yahoo! for several years and all I did was include the link Gravy Buffet in my signature block here on Coasterbuzz.

Phew. Looks cool but I am glad it's not something that I have to go back to Santa Claus, IN for.
