Especially notice the part about starting threads like most/least/best/worst/tallest/sexiest whatever. If it's a superlative thread, we're going to nuke it. It's nothing personal, it's just that we generally don't find those kinds of things interesting.
Also, we do emphasize real spelling and grammar here.
Whenever you start a topic, ask yourself: Is this something that you would want to read every response to.

You don't know how annoying & right that is, dude!
Although I am not a moderator, just a regular visitor... it's the only decent coaster/amusement park site out there with good open forums and good discussions,
I can't help but to get a little "irked" when I see at LEAST 10 new threads (sometimes up to 20) started by the same poster who just signed up moments ago. The thing that irks me is that these topics are either:
* Pointless and goes no where.
* Already been done a week or so ago, or done to death (meaning they didn't use the search feature).
* Have subtle differences between one another, so should belong in one thread.
* Just wants to stir up a debate.
I guess the main beef is like I have said before, it pushes the good topics back to the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th page of threads. In other words, they get lost, and what otherwise would be a decent discussion just winds up alone with the rest of them while "I'm going to so&so park, so where's the best bathroom there located?" sits toward the top of the list.
I welcome new members as much as anyone else. It helps generate more opinions, variety, and most of all... can keep the site going with another clicker for the ads... but...
One of the suggestions that you, Jeff, have suggested yourself should be implemented sooner than later if possible...
Limiting the number of new topics a member can post per day/week!!

He's exactly right.
The forum board over at Thrillride.com ended up this way. The main message board was all Best/Worst/How many have you ridden/this park vs that park/ messages. I eventually stopped reading them.
Now that Thrillride is gone, all of those people are going to come here. Don't respond to those kind of posts and then they'll scroll off the board until the moderators can nuke them.

I just wanted to reinforce what Jeff said. I know there is concern over how this forum may transition with a pending influx of new members (if it even will.) Our team of moderators have consistently kept the amount of noise to a minimum. We intend on continuing our moderating practices and bring you fresh and fun discussions on the industry!

As for best/worst/most/least/etc. threads, they produce no valuable discussion at all. They're just post after post of people giving their opinion in one or two words. That kind of stuff is for polls, not forums.

One example was a topic of which I started a month or two back on the best log ride. I have only been to like 5 different parks w/ log rides, so my experience was limited... and I was curious on the best log ride around the country.
I now know that you gotta get to Flordia to experience that.
So sometimes there is an overall good to it.
I guess key word there is SOMETIMES

Asking these types of questions (in particular, the best log flumes,) do produce conversations about something that is not often talked about. Exceptions can be made to this.
It's the best/worst/tallest/fastest/etc... coasters, woodies, hypers, inverteds, B&M's, Intamin's, etc... that will be dispatched without delay!

Okay, force312. We should all use good "grammer" and use a capital letter to start a sentence and a period to end it. "Grammer" also involves spelling, and I suggest you use spell check ;).
