Kings Dominion’s newest roller coaster inverts its riders forward and backward as the cars whip around, independent of the track, mimicking the path of a monkey swinging from vines. Tumbili, which is Swahili for “monkey,” stands 112 feet, reaches 34 mph and lasts almost a minute.

Maybe it’s because I’ve never waited for one of these things (having ridden 4) but I don’t have a problem woth them. Sometimes they’re kind of boring, but more often than that, they’re pretty decent. I mean they’re not Green Lantern.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
I don’t know if these are considered a budget coaster, but if I was putting one in I’d make it twice as tall and 3 times more active.
I haven’t ridden one. I think I’m gonna do a Hampton Roads visit late summer so I reckon I’ll get a try.
Speaking of Green Lantern, and maybe we’ve mentioned it before, the plans to relocate it to LaRonde were cancelled. I’m not sure why.

The full versions that Six has bought are total puker's to me. Once and done. I have to imagine that the general public has a similar response, and the appearance of long lines on these is more a function of capacity. It will be interesting if the nausea factor has been dialed down with a shorter ride.
These rides, and those Premier Skyrockets, are the Vekoma Boomerangs of this generation. Cheap, off the shelf, take very little space, but also painful and nauseating.
The real selling point though is the gimmick. "They go forwards *and* backwards!" Or in the S+S case, do some stupid spinny, barfy thing.
I've ridden one of each and cringe at the throught of having to Cre-Ho any more that I come across.

You just took me back to the first ad I heard for Sidewinder at Hershey, before I knew it was a lousy* boomerang. "It goes upside down SIX TIMES!"
*It's actually the best, smoothest boomerang I've ridden.

and I hate to bring up an old meme, but the capacity sux.
I hate that this is considered a CoasterBuzz meme and not a genuine concern or complaint. Wait times and capacity are important to people.
The new ride looks like a real stinker.
But to end this post on a positive note, I love the retheme of their bobsled ride. That ride deserves all the attention it can get.

For what it's worth, I thought GaleForce was one of the best coasters I rode last year.
Small footprint doesn't necessarily mean boring.
I develop Superior Solitaire when not riding coasters.
No, not at all. I didn't include GaleForce, or Sandy, because I haven't ridden them. I didn't include Eurofighters either, although they definitely fit the "small, off the shelf" category.
I just specifically dislike the Skyrocket 2 and Freespin rides and think that they are overused, provide bad rides, and are more about the spectacle than the ride itself. I'm not happy about it, of course I'd like to enjoy every coaster I ride, but here we are.
But that's just, like, uh, you know, my opinion, man.
I don't mind the Sky Rocket II rides, but do find it odd that a ride that lends itself to being at smaller parks (such as Compounce) ended up being built at many of the largest theme parks at the US. This seems to be a shift away from building marquee, high-capacity coasters in favor of building cheap rides just for the sake of having something new. At the very least, if you're going to put a Sky Rocket II in your park that receives 4 million visitors a year, put in the extra money to add a table for two train operation!
