Fun Spot founder spreads anti-mask conspiracy theories, son and current CEO insists they're meeting guidelines

In emails provided to Orlando Weekly, Fun Spot founder John Arie downplayed the pandemic, which has now killed more than a million and a half people worldwide, comparing it a bad flu season. Arie has posted on Facebook that, "We don’t need to wear masks on airplanes, grocery stores, Costco, amusement parks or church!"

Leaving safety up to God and Trump doesn't seem like a winning strategy for an amusement park.

Costco, amusement parks or church

That's an interesting juxtaposition.

I'm reminded of the old "I sent you two boats and a helicopter" joke.

I don't even know why I'm chiming in here, because I think we're all intelligent enough to see how ridiculous this reasoning is, but I wonder what he thinks of cancer treatments. I mean, maybe he's a Christian Scientist or something (which I still don't really respect, but at least it's consistent-ish kind of).

Using the same logic, Fun Spot ought to remove all the sinks from their restrooms and leave the chicken strips sitting out on counters overnight.

They couldn't get worse. The food there is the lowest quality counter-service dog **** anywhere. It's really not good.

Deliberately didn’t go to either location when in Orlando in mid-November. Knew they were anti mask and didn’t enforce rules so didn’t chance it

To that end, I will never understand why someone in his position lacks the emotional maturity to put the brakes on making such a post. Not surprised, just fascinated with people's motivations.

Typically, show business people aren’t noted for their good sense.

That, and any statement he makes is attention. The more outrageous the statement, the greater the attention. Anyone who has been paying...attention...for the last four years ought to know this by now.

Show business, in any form, is about turning attention into dollars. Good showmen understand this. Great showmen know how to control it.

It sounds like Arie may be a good showman.

I've read about him and decided not to visit either Fun Spot when we were in Orlando a couple weeks ago.

(We already have the credits too.)

Agreed. My 45 minutes in Family Kingdom was scary enough.

On a humorous note, since I had a Season Pass in 2019, I finally decided to unsubscribe from their daily emails clogging up my inbox. Under "reason for unsubscribing" I clicked Other and wrote "Get your Covid s*** together and I'll consider coming back." I know no one will see it, but I felt better, haha.

I suspected things weren't right when they opened up Mine Blower with a prayer for the first lady. Be best, of course.
