In 1976: Six Flags St. Louis opens Screamin' Eagle

On April 10, 1976, the longest, fastest and largest roller coaster ride in the world made its debut at Six Flags St Louis. The Screamin' Eagle burst through the Bicentennial year and into the history books by plunging its passengers down a 100-foot drop and throwing them around the track at more than 60 miles per hour.

One of these days I'll get there. I believe this was John Allen's last coaster, unless you count the consulting work he did on The Beast?
By today's standards this isn't a large ride, but in photos it still looks massive. And beautiful.
