From the blog post:
While the highly anticipated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge lands won’t debut to Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort guests until 2019, eager fans can take a voyage over the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge construction site – right now!
It's impressive from World Drive down here, too. I haven't been actually in the park in months (it's Epcot tonight), but it's hard to believe that they've managed to pack all that stuff in there.

Until Disney bought Star Wars, I didn't think they would ever do anything to get me to go back. Now, I can't wait. Unfortunately with the wife's vacation opportunities, it probably won't be til 2020. Though, I can't imagine the crowds when it opens anyway. It'll still be ridiculously crowded when I go. I'm just hoping, not as ridiculous.
That is an unbelievable amount of construction. Is this entire thing in existing park space, or is the park boundary expanding? Also, I would love to have a print of that concept art.

Disneyland is in the footprint, though I seem to recall they took down administrative space away. At DHS, I think they pushed out a little to the south to the waterway, but I can't imagine that was more than 100 feet. The old space was really pretty huge. Still not sure what they're going to do to make the Muppets stuff not be in an awkward place.

It sounds awesome, especially with the connecting hotel into the land. But remembering how packed Potter was, combined with increased appeal of Star Wars, and the already overly packed parks makes for a situation I don't want to endure. I will plan to visit a few years out once it dies down some, besides I am likely swapping my passes for Universal this summer, more appeal there.
That doesn't even make sense. They just rethemed the pizza place last year, and you've still got the Italian restaurant back in the corner. The "island" is really Star Tours.

Well that's sort of the problem for us. We penciled in early December '19 for a cross coast trip to WDW, but I don't want to be too soon after the Galaxy's Edge opening.

All the cool kids are going to California next summer.
Star Wars opens out west sooner, the weather is nicer and it’s cheaper provided you have to fly to FL and CA because you can stay off site.
Just saying...

Well, we live in the Bay Area, so we've done DLR twice already. We're actually more interested in the non-Star Wars, non-duplicate-DL stuff at WDW, so it might make sense to try to do it before Galaxy's Edge opens to avoid the rush (and maybe get a soft opening on something).

While both attractions will be opening in 2019, DL is about 6 months ahead. It is widely assumed that Star Wars will open summer 2019 at DL and holiday 2019 at DHS.

Hmm...2nd week in December '19 may either be exactly right (soft opening) or exactly wrong (actual opening).
I can't imagine anyone in Park Ops wants to take over those attractions "for real" in the few weeks leading up to the busiest time of the year. But, I've been wrong before.
