Intamin stand-ups???

I never knew there were Intamin stand ups. I read it on thrillride. But mayeb it is a typo. Could somebody explain?

Normally, I would say don't believe anything you read on "Thrillride," but there are a few Intamin standers out there. The one that comes to mind is Batman: The Escape in Astroworld. Originally opened in 1986 at SFMM as Shockwave!, they (intamin) helped along with the development of the first generation of standups. Notice (if you can find a pic of the trains) they are 4 accross "seating" like the modern B&M's. Walt & Claude (B&M) were still at Intamin at the time, which is why they look (and sound, from what I can remember) much like today's B&M standers.

Isnt King Cobra at PKI an Intamin stand-up???

Actually, I think King Cobra is a TOGO coaster. But I believe that the Shockwave at Drayton Manor is an Intamin stand-up.

Yes,both King Cobra at PKI and Shockwave at PKD are Togo stand-ups. KC was the world's first stand-up.

Shockwave at SFGAdv was an Intamin Standup. It only lasted 2 seasons. Anybody know what happened to it? I have fond memories of this ride as it was my only my second looping coaster and the first that was a complete circuit (credit Lightin' Loops as my first looper).

There is a Intamin stand up coaster in the UK called Seven Up Shockwave. It is a good size standup.

Millrace, that is the same Shockwave that was at SFMM, 2 seasons, it went to SFGAdv for another 2 seasons and later to Astroworls. I forgot where it went after SFMM. It was part of the (no longer in effect) Six Flags ride exchange program.

I heard the ride exchange program was still in effect.I liked Shockwave and I was wondering where it went also.I know Ultra Twister went to SFAstroworld and they are soon to be getting rid of Viper too.I heard they want something like Golliath.we shall see....

the "Intamin" Stand-up were Giovanola rides that had been selled by Intamin ( like Intamin did for some Schwarzkopf rides ). SFMM Shockwave opened in 1987 and " Stand-up " at Skar Summarland in Sweden opened in 1988. Walter and Claude worked on these while working at Giovanola. In 1990, Shockwave was sended to SFGRadv and then to SFAW. Stand-up was bought in 1995 by La Ronde and renamed Cobra. In 1994, the Drayton Manor Shockwave opened, featuring the world first Standing Zero G Roll and second corkscrew.
