SOB Strategy

What is the best way to ride SOB not like seat wise but just to get on. Don't tell me make sure it is open. Do you need to get there really early?

I guess it depends on what day you go. I went on a Monday (TR in the TR section) and was able to ride it twice, once at about 12:30pm and again at about 8:00pm. If thing run like they did that day, you should only have about an hour and a half wait most of the day. If you go on a weekend, then all I can say is good luck and godspeed =].

2hostyl..Was there only 1 train running??
We got there when the park opened and there was already a line outside of the queue(sounds like MF doesnt it?)aFTER THAT WE WAITED 2 AND A HALF HOURS TO RIDE BUT THIS WAS ALSO ON A sUNDAY TOO.
The only advice I can give it to make it your first ride and hope they have both trains running.If its only one train,then you will always have at least an hour wait.But Its worth the wait!!!

I was there yesterday and got 3 rides on Sonny. They were running 2 trains and the wait time for my first ride at 11:00 was 1 hour. I went back around 4 and had about a 40 minute wait then got right back in line and waited 30 minutes to ride. I heard one of the workers say that this was the shortest they had ever seen the line since Sonny had opened. Whatever the wait is this ride is well worth it. It is the most intense ride on a rollercoaster I have ever experienced.

coastermonster: no there were TWO trains running, although they never dispatch the one in the station until the other one reached the final break run. Still the wait was fine. And Sonny is one fine coaster (my #1 wood, #2 overall...)

That's not good... the whole reason to have more than one train is to keep the others from sitting still for extended periods of time. A train should be cresting the lift no later than when the other train is between the final brake run and the station.

But what do those ride ops know?Its a new coaster and theyre afraid of it crashing...yeah right.
They should take lessons from the CP crew.

Actually, like SOB, the ride ops at CP don't dispatch the Millennium Force train from the station until the train on the ride reaches the final brake run. Of course, there's seperate loading and unloading platforms on MF, also, which maximizes time a little bit. Still, the actual blocking on SOB and MF is the same. There are only 2 blocks on the whole ride: the loading station and the ride itself. *** This post was edited by MooreOn on 7/28/2000. ***

I understand what you are saying Moore..but 75% of this season they were either running it with one train or not at all.I talked to a ride op at CP and he wanted to ride it and 2days in a row the ride was shut down.He actually waited in the queue three hours before someone told him the ride wasnt going to reopen.I think Cp is handling MF alot better than PKi is of Son Of Beast.PKI cant even handle the crowds.You would of thought they would put in fans and awnings over the queues.Would make waiting for that one train alot more comfortable..how bout couches too???

It's not the ride operators choice, and it has nothing to do with Millennium Force. Dispatch times depend entirely on how the ride is blocked and where the blocks are. SOB has four blocks, so you could run three trains and never stack them.
