Kennywood to retire Log Jammer

From the press release:

As Kennywood's 2017 Summer Season winds down and we look ahead to 2018, we've come to a very hard decision: the Log Jammer will retire at the end of this season.

To celebrate 42 years of our favorite logs, Kennywood invites friends, families and Pittsburgh visitors to enjoy one last ride down the 53-foot drop chute before the summer season comes to an end on September 17.

While we know that the Log Jammer is a beloved ride for many of our guests and has been for us as well, we're looking forward to exploring exciting new developments in that corner of the park in future seasons.

Did Log Jammer require a new control system? Are the ride supports in poor shape? Are the boats still water worthy?

That space where the flume sits sure has a good view down that hillside to the river. Just saying

"Pittsburgh Dad" has a lot of these videos on his channel. This is actually one of the weaker ones (with so much time dedicated to the musical montage) - some of them are downright hilarious if you are familiar with Pittsburgh culture and the dialect.

I love Pittsburgh Dad. Does he still do a reading at the Xmas event?

I know I don't get most of his schtick because I'm not from the 'Burgh, but I still can't help but think that I wouldn't find it funny even if I was.

You're not alone Vater. I live in Pittsburgh and don't find him funny at all.

For me he is a caricature that isn't too far off of some of my family that is from the Pittsburgh area.

It's the material that's not funny.

It only takes about 30 seconds to get enough water behind the dam to let it go. It takes a specific touch, though. Too soon or too late and the water either won't make it far enough, or it will go over with too much force and backwash upon itself and flood the spillway. You then need about 15-20 minutes for it to drain before you can start the pumps again, and everyone will make fun of you for that entire time.

There is a coaster drop/rise (dry track) on the (Miler) Big Timber Mountain flume at Enchanted Forest in Oregon. Yes, the park with the Ice Mountain Bobsled.
