Schlitterbahn settles with family of boy killed on Verruckt

The family of the 10-year-old Olathe boy killed last summer at Schlitterbahn water park has reached a civil settlement with the park’s owner. Caleb Schwab was riding the Verrückt water slide in Kansas City, Kan., last August when he was killed.

I wouldn't be surprised if the extreme weight in the back caused the raft to do a wheelie of sorts over the hump. They probably should have loaded the rafts with a limit of a lesser rear weight bias.

The article makes reference that the terms of the settlement will be released as part of the settlement agreement. If this is true, this is very uncommon and it will be interesting to hear the details.

That's assuming that the other attorneys and the court can agree on that. There appears that there is going to be a lot more to this as well as other litigation. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for an announcement.

Looks like the settlement gives his three brothers payments for life, although the amount hasn't been released as far as I can tell.
